I have a dog that I have had for almost 2 years old I adopted him as a puppy and he cries and whines all the time. It is really wierd he is fine and then if anyone walks by our window he freaks out crying and running in circles super annoying. Does anyone know anything I can do to try and help him with his what I think is anxiety?

Well, bear in mind that dogs were first domesticated to be a version of a living security alarm, so that when intruders were near we would know.

You didnt mention your breed, but chances are it was bread over generations for that picticular purpose.

That being said there are a couple things that will get your dog to be quiet.

You have to let them know that barking is bad, and that being quiet is good. Make sure your dog knows how to sit before you start this.

when he starts barking when people pass the window, call him and ask him to sit. When he stops being anxious and starts being a nice quiet sitting dog, give him a treat.

If you do that enough times it will become a trained response, When people pass by the house he'll come up to you, sit, and be quiet.

This will take a while depending on your breed. Try to be consistant, and make sure that everyone in the house knows this is the way to deal with the problem. Things like "No" And "stop!" mean nothing to a dog.

Have a few of your friends walk by the window, then take the dog out to them and give him a positive experience.

Or every time he does it punish him however you punish your dog. And make sure to do it immediately.

I would suggest a lot of exercise coupled with both obedience and agility trainging.

The exercise is for obvious reasons. The obedience is to teach the dog what behaviours are not permitted, and the agility is to get them use to thinking about their movements, occupying their brain, bonding for the two of you and just fun!

You may just have to get a good set of blinds on your windows that the dog can’t move. Just keep in mind that like children, you have to keep the cords up high so he can’t hurt himself with them.

Get into some good training/obedience classes. A good trainer will help you learn to train your dog and address these issues properly.

You can ask your vet about a drug called Clomicalm. Its like a doggie happy pill. My BFF had a stray mixed breed that had the same problem, and its the only thing that worked.
