If you (or anybody else) feel threatened -- I'd suggest to email Katie: y_answrs_katie@yahoo.com

I am really sorry about Squirrel.

There are not people who are specifically assigned the task of chasing trolls as such. There are definitely programmers who are always trying to think up ways to catch trolls as a category, but the specific troll can only be caught and eliminated if we vigorously report abuse. Once they have been reported several times, and there is an opportunity for a staff member to review those reports, they are generally suspended or even kicked out of Yahoo entirely. Not only Answers, but all of Yahoo.

Of course, they just make up another user name and come back, but eventually even that will go sour. Woe betide anyone who does this at work and causes a problem for the entire LAN in their office. Might get you fired; could easily get you reprimanded and a black mark on your work record.

They don't monitor it. If you get so many reports your question is automatically deleted. If you keep getting reported on many questions and answers in a short period of time your account can be locked/banned. Thats why its smart to hide your Q & A from everyone so trolls don't have an easy time being mean pricks.

And don't always post in the same section either. I know most people want to be master of their domain by having that cute little top contributor icon below their name that if you always answer in the same area your also making yourself prone to getting banned by trolls because they know where you are always at. Just click on answer up top and answer any question that you know the answer to. Don't just answer it not knowing and hopefully that will 'be enough' to get you closer to your pretty little yellow icon. Yahoo really didn't think this whole thing through. They should get rid of the report button all together and have moderators for each section.

I added my two cents to your question on there, but I don't know how much good it will do. I'm just grateful that the squirrel gave us a heads-up so I could block this person from being able to do the same thing to me. I just feel awful that the squirrel got deleted.. I am in mourning.

Excellent idea about blocking the Q&A! I'm sure that's what trolls with a beef do: go to every question or answer and file a report. If they weren't so nasty, you'd feel sorry for the fact that they don't have a life!

I don't know. Really the whole report system is broken. You just get one user -- who might have an account a week old -- and he can essentially "bring down" another user. I worked for a while as an AUP admin for an Internet Services company, and although we had a smaller workload (I'm sure), we did a much better job.

I only report spammers and people with porn avatars.

thank you Yahoo. I take excitement in the artwork the yahoo team does. save up the good artwork. The conflict against spammers and trolls is a relentless one. they even have no longer something greater useful to do than to create account after account to get deleted all day long. you will think of they might locate something effective to do.

I don't know. I have had someone target me before and it was obvious their motive based on which questions and answers of mine they flagged. Yahoo never looked at the posts before they deleted them, later I got some of my point back..but still.

It's not fair. They need to actually look at stuff before they delete. Ever notice how fast a positive uplifting question about another member gets removed, like those posted about Debra M, yet hateful bigotry remains despite how many people report it?

Something is rotten in California.

Ohhhh nooooooo ..... did the bad squirrel get deleted? That's just WRONG. I love that liddle squirrel!

Some users here are SO uptight and have no sense of humor. Furthermore, they take it upon themselves to try and police the joint. It's pathetic!

Let me get this straight:

Who'd he target? I'd like to see, but alas he blocked me when I answered a question of his.

Oh I see now. Screw that guy. Squirrel may throw acorns at us rabbits, but he's 100 times better than shield douche.
