Along with some other mental problems, I am suffering from trichotillomania. Though many of my problems (all relating to severe anxiety) have been cured or at least subdued to some degree, I still cannot stop pulling out my hair when overstressed. I'm willing to try something new...any suggestions?

I'd suggest talking to your doctor first about a medication, and I'd also ensure I had a nice short hairstyle.
Have you tried carrying around something (like a stress ball) to hold in your hand? Wrapping up balls of yarn?
The primal scream in the pillow is also a nice one, anything that's not mind boggling and that requires you to really focus your energy would be an alternative.

Well I'll be honest nothing completely stops it. I have had this crap since I was 12, I am now 28.Taking medication does seem to help some and you may want to ask your docter about Anafranil. It has the highest sucess rate so far. When I get the urge to pull my hair I'll scratch the spot until the urges passes.Doesn't always help but most times it does. Also be come active . Exersize really really helps. I'm not sure why. Well anyways that's all I've got. I wish you the best!

shave your head . . . :-D

Meditate - find the source of the bad thought, wall it off and replace it with something else. Weeding, perhaps, or playing hop-scotch. Build a house of innocence and live there.

my daughter's psychologist said that there were some training exercises that she could be taught. Good luck.
