I was reading the answers to a previous question and a lot of them quoted the scripture from leviticus

Leviticus 19:28) Ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print any marks upon you: I am the LORD.

Well it's funny cause the very next chapter says that if you talk back to your parents, work on the sabbath, commit adultery, use god's name in vain..etc etc that you should be stoned to death.

Nice way to pick and choose huh? Do the people who told the questioner that they shouldnt do it in regards to the aforementioned leviticus scripture really believe that those that work on the sabbath should be stoned to death also? Or was it one of those *I* think its wrong so I'm going to find scripture to back it up?

primoa i dont think you understood the question. or perhaps you were just thinking "i'll be clever and say something else that has nothing to do with the question to gain two points and appear smart"

First I must say that you are NOT wrong for using scripture - I do the same - God Bless You!

Tattoo's are wrong! The Old Testament DOES STILL COUNT! Just as the New Testament - Even JESUS Himself said that and compared situations with the Old Testament and the Talmud the other scriptures and writing they used!

True also that stoning is no longer a punishment - but what does 'that' have to do with it - our punishments HAVE Changed, Thank God! I do not think that would have been too pleasant!

By the way - I use KJV - God Bless!

May you have the Grace of God and Peace!

Take Care and God Bless!

Alot of professed Christians talk out of both sides of their mouth.
They believe Jesus fulfilled the Mosaic Law, but still want to cling to some of it's Laws such as the sabbath, tithing and a few others that suit their personal preferences. Then they ignore the stoning, the animal sacrifices, trips to Jerusalem and the other 600+ laws within the Mosaic Law. So, yes, I would agree with you it is a "pick and choose" mentality.

The entire Mosaic Law, having been fulfilled, were summed up in TWO new commandments:
1. Love God
2. Love your neighbor.

Everything else is rhetoric, dogma, personal choice, doctrine derived from man, etc.

If I love God, will I contribute financially towards spirituall things? Yes, I will. However, it will come from my heart and not because there is an arbitrary %.
If I love my neighbor, will I steal from him/her? Will I murder him/her? Will I covet what he/she has? Will I do him/her ANY harm? NO

I am a non-denominational Christian, and I have a tattoo.

In regards to tattoos, its not wrong unless there is something indecent.

Although the Old Testement has many valuable lessons we are not under the old law as it is written. When Jesus came he brought the new law found in the New Testement.

People need to read the entire Bible and not pick and choose whats in their personal best interest to believe and adhere to. The Bible is meant to be fully obeyed.

We live under grace......not a license to sin.....but grace.

It's clearly obvious that stoning is not a punishment anymore.....wake up.
