Some companies will allow their engineers to work part time and perform some work at home (call-in meetings etc.) It can't hurt to send resumes' with a cover letter stating what arrangement you seek.

Start by talking to your former employer, and ask if they have any work that you could do from home. Many engineering tasks could be done that way.
Also talk to anyone you know who is working in your field, to see if the companies where they work might have assignments you could do.
Good luck.

I sell Usborne children's books from home, on the side of my full time job. You can check out my webpage at: www.books4haylea.com.
Kids love them! I love the fact that I am impacting children's lives and helping literacy!
