Wouldn't you rather believe in God and fin out he isn't real than to not believe in God and find out he is? Because if you believe in God and find out he isn't real so what you were wrong but you had nothing to lose. And if you don't believe in God and find out he is real ...well let's just say you're in BIG trouble. What do you think?

Let's go over this yet AGAIN, shall we?

1.) For most organized religions, it's not enough to simply "believe" -- you have to put money in the collection plate, and donate your time, and tithe your earnings -- all resources that most of us could put to better use.

2.) You don't CHOOSE what you believe -- you are COMPELLED to believe (or not) based on the weight of the evidence. And in the case of the biblegod, the only evidence you have to offer is hearsay and third-hand accounts (enough to get kicked out of any court of law)...

3.) Without a verifiable, objective standard to measure by (i.e.; scientific proof), how do you determine which is the RIGHT god to worship? Every religion has prophets that predicted things; EVERY religion has its stories of miracles; EVERY religion claims to be the exclusive truth. Do you intend to give equal time and devotion to each of the THOUSANDS of deities that have been worshipped all over the world and throughout time, "just in case"?

4.) Even if we grant you that EVERYthing in the bible is 100% true, the god described therein is a genocidal, egotistical, megalomaniacal sociopath -- if anything, we should be devoting ourselves to fighting AGAINST him, not worshipping him! What crime could a mortal being commit to warrant INFINITE punishment? Intrinsic to the concept of "crime" is HARM done; and by definition, an all-powerful god CANNOT be harmed by the likes of us. How fair is it to punish ALL of humanity, for the misbehavior of just two of them (Adam and Eve)? What deity who murders innocent children and infants by the thousands (see the story of Noah, or the slaughter of the firstborn of Egypt) could be worthy of praise and devotion?

You go ahead and sing your little songs to your imaginary friend if YOU are convinced, just stay the H3LL away from me and mine....

Wow good point. Thats the way I think of it. At least if I believed in God lived a joyful life (with some rough patches but still better than life without God) then died and found it was all a lie then I truly have nothing to lose. However if it were the flipside how sad would that be.

I gave up that frame of mind when I was 8 and found out there was no such thing as the tooth fairy. Besides the book of revelations calls that being lukewarm. And follows with a little spewing fire out at people like that. So pick a side. Your too wishy washy.

Seems like I hear that dilemma a lot...

I'm an agnostic, so I'm not sure what I believe about God. I think if God does exist, s/he's way too profound for me to really understand. So I'm open to the existence of God, and I think if God does exist that s/he will understand my dilemma and see into my heart and accept me.

And I've always wanted to ask...is it real faith if you "believe" in God just because you think you might go to hell if you don't? That's the problem I always see with that question.

Well, you are assuming belief is a choice.

You are also assuming you have chosen the right religion and the right god to believe in.

By the way, Pascal's wager is one of the thinnest arguments for belief in god. You should do some research and find out why that is, because all the atheists are laughing at you for using such ridiculous logic.

Im a good man. I believe in God but detest religion. (so does god i think) Being a good person should be all that is required if God wants me to believe some crazy stories about him and believe what others tell me about him instead of looking for the answers within myself then screw him. God is inteligent and he made me in his image. almost every religion believes this. If that is so he "programmed" all these answers in me. believe what you feel is right and be a decent person is all that is necessary . If i am in trouble for believing what i feel to be right and God punishes me for it than he would be wrong and that cant be!

Google "Pascal's Wager" You know that this gets asked so often it is part of our drinking game

- It assumes there is no downside. There is. You spend your life (the only one you do have) following a lie. That is a HUGE downside.

- How would you know which God to pick? The evidence is the same for Anubis, so what happens to you when you are wrong and you can't pass the questions from the Book of the Dead or your heart weighs heaver than a feather. There are thousands of others with the same evidence. Just picking one randomly doesn't do much for your odds.

- How could you hope to fool a god by saying you believe when you don't?

I explained in your previous question that this is a fallacious argument and I guess now I will explain why. First of all, this is not an original idea. As I stated previously, this is known as "Pascal's Wager". Apparently you didn't take my advice in looking up what Pascall's Wager is so I have taken the liberty of looking it up for you.

Pascal's Wager (or Pascal's Gambit) is the application by the French philosopher, Blaise Pascal, of decision theory to the belief in God. In his Wager, Pascal attempts to provide an analytical process for a person to evaluate options in regarding belief in God. This is often misinterpreted as simply believing in God or not. As Pascal sets it out, the options are two: live as if God exists, or live as if God does not exist. There is no third possibility.

Therefore, we are faced with the following possibilities:

You live as though God exists.
If God exists, you go to heaven: your gain is infinite.
If God does not exist, you gain nothing & lose nothing.
You live as though God does not exist.
If God exists, you go to hell: your loss is infinite.
If God does not exist, you gain nothing & lose nothing.

The Atheist's Wager is an atheistic response to Pascal's Wager. While Pascal suggested that it is better to take the chance of believing in a God that might not exist rather than to risk losing infinite happiness by disbelieving in a god that does, the Atheist's Wager suggests that:

You should live your life and try to make the world a better place for your being in it, whether or not you believe in God. If there is no God, you have lost nothing and will be remembered fondly by those you left behind. If there is a benevolent God, he may judge you on your merits coupled with your commitments, and not just on whether or not you believed in him.[5]

I will state once again that it is terrible to believe in something such as God "just in case". That is a false belief and IF there were a God, he would recognize that as a false belief.

Well you can't just suddenly start believing in something, you either do or you don't. But I know that God will give everyone a chance, even atheists will get many signs of God in their life to help them on their journey to God, whether or not they will choose to follow these signs is up to them.

Satan and his demons know God Almighty & Jesus Christ.
The Bible says they tremble at the mention of God Almighty & Jesus' name alone.

Believing in God Almighty is a first step, but in order to go to Heaven when you die, you must be repentant, accept that Jesus is the only begotten son of God & then ask Jesus Christ into your heart and life as your personal Lord And Savior.
