Styx is a great band! Who cares why a river is named Styx. Probably has something to do with reeds in the water...just a guess.

What's the Biblical reference that there is a river in hell and it is named Styx? Is it only found Greek mythology as mentioned by Sarah?

The river Styx is found in Hades not Hell, according to Greek mythology the river was the crossroads where the land of the dead met the land of the living. It's usually mentioned in stories about Hades, who was the ruler of the land of the dead
It was not named after the band.

It's a super band! Here's what is said about the name:

The band members decided to choose a new name when they signed to Wooden Nickel Records; several suggestions were made and, says DeYoung, Styx was chosen because it was "the only one that none of us hated."

I think it was the other way around. I guess they thought listening to them was like being in Hades (which is different than Hell, everyone goes to Hades in the Greek stories)
