Today I took her for a walk and she was getting to jump on me but I caught her in time... She looked at me and I told her a strong sturdy "NO" and pointed toward the direction that we were walking and she LISTEN!!!! When walking back home, she didn't even put up a fight...

My question is: How long do I continue to give her a strong sturdy "NO" until she realize that I am the boss????

You have to continue doing it until she does realize who theboss is which could take a few days to her always wanting to challenge you It all depends on the kind of relationship you have in general with her and how headstrong she is. I have a German Pit Lab mix that eventhough we have a great relationship and she knows I am boss she will still push her limits when going for a walk because she wants to go faster and do things I don't want her to do. It's just a matter of having patience and being consistent with her.

You should never stop being the boss! Dogs by instinct follow the alpha dog of the pack. That should be you. Coonhounds can be very stubborn and difficult to train but with time and patience you should be fine. Look on google for more info on the breed.

Occasionally, you will have to give her stern NO's throughout her life, but that is the part of being boss. My dog is well trained and she has weaknesses sometimes and I will still have to enforce a NO here and there, but they learn fast and soon get into the swing of things with you being boss and they learn what to expect and how to behave. Everyone has bad days though!

hounds can be a bit subborn and take more time to train. it just sounds like u took a step to leader. and just keep doing what ur doing in time she won't need told she'll just follow. and ALWAYS correct her if it something u don't what or seems to be deifient. a no and a firm pull on the leash, she'll get it hounds are smart...its why they are stubborn. they know what they want, U just need to make it clear on what u want is final.

My parents adopted a coon-hound, and we had to take her to obedience classes! She was unruly for several months. Try it for a couple of weeks, and if your dog still does not listen, get classes! They work great!

Just as long as it takes but make sure you do it the same way every time.

You will always have to do that. She will realize she is not suppose to eventually but usually it takes a while.. good luck.
