I am currently in Iraq and I have been kept off missions now because of this. I actually asked for my weapon. Noone seems to give me a straight answer as what will happen to me when I get back to the states. Im also worried I will get nailed for fradulent enlistment, but I didnt do this near as much back home. Just everynow and then, its almost like being here made it worse. Also If I do get discharged, will I have to pay back my bonus and not get my college money?

First of all they can nail you for fraudulent enlistment if you did not disclose it prior to entering. YES, it is going to be worse when you are deployed because you get less good quality sleep and that is what makes sleep walking worse. By the regs you should be discharged first thing since people in your unit know you do at can vouch that it is really happening. You will get and RE-3G discharge that means you have been medically sep'ed and are not eligible to come back into the military or reenlist at all. Depending on when you got your bonus they can make you pay that back too. RE-3G is an honorable discharge normally, but if your told ANYONE that you did this prior to enlistment they can hit you with fraudulent enlistment and you will lose everything including all of your GI Bill benefits, college money and you will get an Other Than Honorable discharge with an RE-4 discharge which will also keep you from every getting a government job and most other real jobs that require any form of background investigation which is a lot of companies now. You could be screwed in several ways.

A combat zone is a VERY bad place to be sleep walking. You need to take immediate action to stop this. Whatever it takes, such as placing something around your bunk that will restrain you or wake you up.

You should also see a shrink to find out how to correct it permanently. I'm not a fan of shrinks but this is something they can probably fix.

And you absolutely should not have access to a loaded weapon at times that you may be acting unconsciously. Lock it up or whatever it takes. Separate ammo from weapon as well (locked separately).

Try to get this fixed rather than worrying about the discharge.

Well Ive read most of the comments. What they dont say is what war is really like.Live fire exz.or real battle produces a hell of alot of noise. The noise produces adrenaline and the military mind starts to work and you hear better, think better, react better.Ive heard about other people like you.Exposure to heavy combat leaves some with the problem of sleepwalking. These guys cant shut down the adrenal gland so thier still in "battle mod"e even when they sleep.I dont envy you.Your problem may never go away.

Actually there is a guy in my college class that what just discharged from (I think the ARMY) for sleepwalking. He said that they made him pay back the money for college, but I don't think they asked for the bonus. Sorry but I don't know first hand, it just come up when we were talking about my husband. I hope this helps.

Go and talk to the doctor out there immediately (if you havent done so already) This is precisely why there is such a large medical backup out there.

It may be that Iraq is the cause, and being refered to someone who can help such as a therapist or a psychologist will be able to help you work through this.

I've known a person or two who also sleep walk whilst serving, so it may not be as bad as you think.

you have become blended solutions right here. right it relatively is precisely what the regulation says approximately you enlisting: you do no longer desire parental consent to enlist in case you're legally emancipated. once you enlist you could furnish the courtroom order that legally emancipates you out of your dad and mom. the marriage certificates can serve that objective, considering that for enlistment purposes you're viewed emancipated once you get married inspite of what state regulation says. in spite of if, you would be a minimum of 17 and additionally you would be a extreme college senior at a minimum. in case you're a junior you could basically enlist interior the army Reserves or national look after in case you're doing chop up determination. you could enlist into the energetic military 14 months only before commencement considering that we are able to do the 14-month DEP. it relatively is assuming you're speaking with regard to the U. S. militia. i be responsive to interior the united kingdom you could connect at sixteen.

Yes to discharge as you told on yourself here that your fradulent, yes to paying back bonus depending on the number of years you came in for and have been already, and yes to losing the MGIB if you have not been active for 24 months. Your a loser all the way around

i was also in the military, if your med records show you had this problem before you joined and you didn't tell them then you might get a dis discharge, but i think you will get a med discharge, and i don't think you will have to pay anything back.
