I have been in a discussion with a good friend about the correlation of people that have been involved with higher education and their religious beliefs. I believe that people who have an educated background in science and history and all basic schooling have a hard time accepting religious faiths as blindly as uneducated people do. It is hard to accept Genesis when you can SEE evolution and adaptation at work. My discussion partner has asked me for some hard evidence that there is any correlation between higher education and religious beliefs. Can anyone provide discussion or a website or a book reference that can help enlighten me? Thank you so much for any help!

Have you ever heard that the only people that complain about the results of an IQ test are people score poorly? Keep that in mind when you read this article. I am in complete agreeing...the higher the education and IQ, the less likely people are to be religious.

So there are no hard facts to prove people with higher education do NOT believe in god, but there are some to prove the opposite. None posted naturally.

Personally I feel that successful people who have a god belief are more like to consider it somewhat abstract, rather than just blindly following Christianity. But I have no hard facts, and would not make it a statement of fact without any.

I have a Bachelor's and a Master's Degree in English. I have a Bachelor's Degree, a Master's Degree, and an Educational Specialist's Degree in Early Childhood Education. I am a Reading Specialist. I am also a Christian. I have seen just about the same number of atheists and Christians on this site who cannot spell well and who cannot use simple homophones correctly. Of course, some of the atheists cry, "Dyslexia!" while at the same time saying that Christians are just dumb. I have been told, "Your dumb" by atheists who do not realize that they are using the incorrect word. "You're" is the word they need to use. LOL, it makes them look dumb. You cannot generalize in this way.

That's right. More highly educated people often delve more deeply into their religion, its history, its symbolism, its essential meaning, thereby developing a commitment to and acceptance of their faith based on far more than mere blind faith. That has been my own experience as a scientist and a Catholic.
