When the preachers just preach the same things over and over again , it's kinda redundant.

To give away your money and have a nap.

Note that preachers DON'T cover the ENTIRE Bible, since it's the filthiest, most violent, immoral book ever written. They have to avoid most of it so to keep people's wallets attending.

First let me say it seems you are trying to build a case for NOT going to church. The church is there to help Christians, BUILD THIER FAITH.

If you are a strong Christian, never tempted by sinful things, always praying several times a day, giving others an uplifting word, helping those less fortunate than yourself, keeping the commandments every day, Worshiping God whenever you can, and keeping Christ in your heart each and every day, without going to church, then ok. You probably can be excused.

BUT

It is highly unlikely that you could continue to be this "strong Christian" if you reject the "meeting of the body" (of Christ) in your life. There is no one who can live a great Christian life without help from the body of Christ from time to time.

ok, you might be able to get along fine without it for a few weeks, a month even, but eventually, without the constant reminders of what is important in your life, (God and Christ), you will weaken, and eventually backslide and begin to live a sinful life again.

If you view your preacher as preaching the same old thing, time and again. Two things. Ask him to preach on an area that concerns you or that is important to you.
Second, ask the Holy Spirit to speak to you about your attitude towards the church...

It seems to me, that your faith is important to you, but I also believe your attitude towards the church is somewhat flawed and not viewed in a positive light.

Pray to the Holy Spirit. God Bless You.

What kind of curch do you go to. The chruch that I go to teaches different things all the time. You saying that its the same thing is saying that you have learned and memorised and understand the whole entire bible and that you could recite it back wards while standing on your head. Or does your chrch teach the confortible message of "God loves you and will let you go to heaven just becouse your good" There are way too many churches that do that sort of thing. Our church doesn't even have 100 people who come. Were lucky if we get about 70 people. The supper curches (huge chrches) are always doing what Ray Comfort says "wattering down the message and taking away the bitter taste of the medicine of its curitive properties and just give the people the message that doesn't leave you saying to your self I got to get my life straight." You should be excited to go to church and leard what God has to say and LIVE IT!! you can tell a kid that 2+2=4 but he doesn't under stand why it does. you have to tell people why they are sinners and they have to realize what they have been doing whrong (10comandments). Some people dont know what theyre being saved from. Yes God loves you that is becouse he sent his only sun to die on the cross to take your sins. you have to swallow your pride and take it that you are a sinner and can only go to heaven through the lord and acept his free gift.(eternal life in heaven)

I have to say one thing: God works in mysterious ways.

The reason we go to church is to give God our full attention and glorify Him and give him praise.

some people tend to say that they could also do it at home, but trust me it's not the same - at home you have distractions, at home you can forget to give two hours of your time to God and home other things can catch your attention.

God has done so much for you everyday so don't you think he at least deserves two hours of your time?

Think about things and be honest to your self.

Have you learned anything about what the preacher preaches?

Are you a mature Christian?

if so then why on earth are you complaining about what the preacher is preaching and not glorifying God and praying so that God could enlighten your pastor and preach the word of God with God's power?

for what you don't need to hear or are sick of hearing maybe someone else is needing.

God has saved us and through us must flow his love and we must be united so that the fire of the Holy Spirit may burn and other people get saved.

Insted of complaning you should work for the Kingdom of God by helping your pastor in learning God's word and helping other people learn as well.

God has not called you just to sit in a church and point fingers
He has called you so that you may have salvation and through you other people may be saved as well.

for salvation is a proses and people need help.

read you Bible and pray and God should lead you the way.

God Bless.

There are different answers to that question, I have a few..

To keep your mind and spirit alive religiously, just as you need practice for any sport to get better at it you need to practice the word of God to keep it alive in you and keep with you the guidance and knowledge God provides when you believe in Him.

To visit Him in His house, just as you visit your other friends.

To feel that relaxed and clean feeling when you come out of church ready for a new day in the morning..

To pray and talk to God..yes you can do that anywhere but it might help being at the church...(to some it might)

Hobo,
Maybe you are going to the "wrong church". Our services are not like that at all. The message that is preached is always fresh and NEW. We have two services on Sunday and Bible Study on Wednesday evening and every service has it's own message. I read, study, and obey GOD's WORD as HE has asked us to do. HIS WORD is absolutely what I believe to be our guide in today's world. Have a wonderful day.
Thank you,

The "point" of church is to commune with people who share the same beliefs, and to strive to become closer to God by studying the Gospels and doing good works.

However, I think a lot of people, myself included, don't "get" this from church.

Well maybe it's because your not going to the right church.

At my church, every single week I can swear the Preacher is talking to me directly about the problems in my life at that moment.

He offers advice on how to help those problems and even prays for those problems to go away.

I hear what you are saying...some sermons do get old...and once you have spent 20 years of your life...you have heard the same message...albeit possibly in different manners, many times.

However, I go because it forces me to slow down...it forces me to meditate, to reflect on God.

In addition, my church does a great work in the community...it is a place where people gather to put their efforts together to affect positive change. We operate a huge food pantry..help the less fortunate, and give a great deal of money to people in need...granted we could always do more...and not all funds are used in this way...but, they are doing a good job.
