The speculation about the pope possibly being the antichrist revolves primarily around Revelation 17:9. Describing the evil end times system symbolized by a woman riding a beast, Revelation 17:9 declares, “This calls for a mind with wisdom. The seven heads are seven hills on which the woman sits.” In ancient times, the city of Rome was known as “the city on seven hills” because there are seven prominent hills that surround the city

1 John 4:3 tells us how to identify the spirit of the antichrist, "but every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard is coming and even now is already in the world."

OOOOOOH you are almost to the point of true knowledge. You are, well as they say, getting warm with the clues. John WAS indeed talking about Rome as the 7 heads on 7 hills. Think about this why would a person write an extremely important letter to Christians and they not understand what it meant? He wouldn't. My friends, the 7 churches in Asia Minor to whom John wrote to knew exactly what John was writing about and they say much of it all come to take place. I know you may not agree with me. I recommend a book by Hank Hanegraaff called "The Apocalypse Code". It will give you a completely different view of Revelation and the "End Time" prophecy.

I would like to give you a serious opinion on this issue. Even though the Pope may play a part in the end time issues he is not the anti-christ. In my opinion the antichrist and false prophet as is used in Revelation is the same person. But there are 2 people involved in the end time. The beast is a different person than the false prophet. the beast is a political person such as a president or prime minister. the false prophet is a religios leader. these 2 are described in detail in the 13th chapter of Revelation. Again in my opinion the mountains are not mountains at all but Capitol Cities of the seven countries involved

This is the absolute worse case of taking verses out of context that I have ever witnessed.
You are not understanding what you read: the manuscripts are clear that "7" are separate Nations, not one with lots and lots of hills.
Also, Satan is Antichrist, and no other person in the flesh will be adopting that role except Satan, who is his own entity.

Finally, John 4:3, by your own post, clearly tells you, even in the English that it is the SPIRIT of Antichrist now in the World, and it is repeated three times for emphasis.

I thought it was clear as a bell in the Greek, but hell, people can't even read plain English anymore.

The next (and last) Pope will be an imposter. He will be the demonic False Prophet, not the anti-christ. The beast represents a particular government from whence the anti-christ will rise. The anti-christ will rule this corrupt government and empower the new Roman Empire. The woman who rides the beast is the great whore, as described in Revelations.

These were written to specific Churches of the time regarding the Roman persecution of the Christians. It talks about the trials of the day the exiles to Patmos and the over coming of them. Apcolyptic literature was popular in the day. the tribulations he was talking about were the ones being faced at the time. It has nothig to do with end times. You also know he was considered to have lost it in exile and gone a little wacko and Revelation was not going to be in the bible except they thought it was written by John the Apostle (turns out they were wrong) and it has been threatened to be removed because of it's danger of being misinterpreted (as we see here).

The only 'Revlelation' here is how sadly gullible some people can be!
Anyway, Edinburgh, capital of Scotland, is a 'city on seven hills' so maybe the next owner of Hearts Football Club could be the anti-christ. But, with the raw winters in Edinburgh, he/she would be more useful as the anti-freeze.

Just to let you know, the Pope is not in Rome, he is in Vatican City.

So the antichrist will probably come from Rome, not Vatican City.
