do i need actual ss card present to get ID card or can i just use a faxed copy????

when applying for a non drivers license (id card), do i need to show my actual ss card or can I have a faxed copy cuz i think i need an actual ss card present but not sure can you please help i am getting the id card today and need immediate help we are about to leave soon!! thanx --Lara

Take the real one to be sure. It changes state by state.

You'll need the actual SS card. Anyone could have a faxed copy of anyone else's card and use it to get an id. There is so much identity theft in this day and age that you'll need the real card.

you could need the particularly SS card. anybody could have a faxed reproduction of anybody else's card and use it to get an identity. there is lots identity robbery at present which you'll want the genuine card.

You'll need to show the original. Faxed copies don't have much detail and so can easily be forged (and so they wont accept them as proof of identity).

Call the tag office or wherever it is you are going to get the ID and they can give you a list of acceptable primary and secondary forms of identification to bring.
