I really like this ring as my engagement ring, but I'm afraid it may look too gaudy. I don't want it to look fake..is it too big? It is 2ct in the center and 1 ct of surrounding stones. Please give me your opinion, particularly people who have experience with jewelry.

It's too big for me but if you like it that's all that matters. It would be very shiny and a little showy to me but that's because I like more simple bands. But like I said before what I think is not the issue if you love it and would love to wear it. Doesn't look fake to me though since you asked.

The ring is beautiful, there's no doubt about that. Ultimately, it depends on your STYLE though. My preference is a more 'simple' look. The engagement ring I chose was the 3 diamond style. Very simple, very elegant. But, it's up to the type of girl you are. If you wear a lot of diamondy type jewelry and dress up a lot, your ring is perfect. If you're more of a low key, simple, jeans and t-shirt type, I think you might want to go with a more simple ring. It's something you're going to have to wear for a long time and should be something that you look at and it shows your type of STYLE.

I think it's very pretty....the only thing i would be curious about is how big your hands are...A 2 ct rock is actually pretty large, and could be borderline gaudy...A 1.5 ct would actually make a big difference in the "gaudy" department...Unless you have larger sized hands....(I would say the same thing if you were looking at a tiny rock and you had large hands- in that case i'd say look for something bigger)

2 carats of fakeness??? Yes it gawdy and peopkle WILL know that it's fake. It will raise suspiction because of the large size of the stone, specially since your friends and relatives know that you can't afford it.

A real 2 carat diamond ring on that syle will cost ten thousand dollars (and up!!) so if you can't aford the real thing, don't make it OBVIOUS by buying such pompous and pretentious bling.

If you want bling to pass for a diamong, pick something smaller so people will not suspect.

You said that you don't want people to know that it's fake... then don't pick two flamboyant carats of moissanite!!!!! people WILL know!

I'm my book, only a diamond would be acceptable. However small, a diamond is a diamond and you won't have to explain and answer noisey questions fron suspecting friends and relatives. You can pick a smalll diamond in Walmart or Kmart reasonably priced.

Good luck

1. It is expensive for a "fake" ring. (like it or not, moisssanite is a fake diamond)
2. Unless you are a 50-ish year old country club type, it will look fake since it doesn't match YOU
3. It is kinda gaudy, a bit over the top, I'd tone it down somewhat.
4. I'd go for a decent looking ring where you can move up as you get more anniversaries under your belt

Very pretty if a bit ostentatious (IMO). Does it fit your lifestyle and who you are or do you just want it for the "bling" value?

Looks like a high profile though so you may be catching it on lots of things. Also, lots of little places for dirt and all to get caught in. More sparklies to worry about falling out. And more of an eye-catcher for any would-be thief on the street. Not to dissuade you, but things to think about.

Grats on the upcoming nuptuals :)

it's gorgeous, a bit too sparkly for my own taste but not cos it looks cheap at all. Get it huni and enjoy it, this is a ring that you're going to wear everyday for the rest of you're life, it'll stay with you a lot longer then what a lot of the people you think'll disapprove of it, so the question is, do you want it?
good luck getting married

It is great and congrats on finding a guy who can afford it.

If you have a large hand you can have a large stone. I have big hands and large stones don't look out of place. I have a sapphire ring with a larger stone size than that. It looks fine on me.

Little hands don't look as good with large 2 carat stones.

If you like it and he can afford it, I say go for it. Who cares what anyone else thinks. The ring is a symbol of his comitment to you, his promise to love you.

Take your guy the store and try things out. See how things look on your hand, see how they feel. It will also give him a good idea about what you like.

Peraonally, it's not my taste, it's too much, but I'm a simple girl. Simple three stone while gold is my ring. It suits me.
