If yes, how do you manage to keep an eye on your belongings and to swim altogether?

Nope never. I would leave my stuff in the car.

Yes to the sunbathing but NO on the swimming! It's far too dangerous where I live to swim in the sea alone! Lots of tidal currents that could swim me out into the Irish Sea!!!
As for my belongings that's what cars are for! I just keep the car key on a band round my wrist when I'm on the beach, alone or other-wise!

Yeah, I used to do it all the time when I first moved back to FL and hadn't made friends...I still do it occasionally.

It's not a problem here really. I don't take things of value to the beach, first off so the only really important thing anyone could steal would be my car keys. My beach accessories consist of a gym bag, a bed sheet, beach towel, my swimsuit cover up, sunglasses, my cell phone, my ciggy case with DL and maybe $5 in it, a book, and my cooler with snack/beverages.

Here in the Florida panhandle I've never heard of an issue with anyone's belongings being tampered with while they were swimming, although I would hesitate to go off on a long walk and leave them unattended for an extended period of time. Also, even when the beaches here get "busy" they aren't blanket-to-blanket and if you go to a lesser used spot, there may be a good bit of room between you and the next sunbather, and possibly no kids around at all.

Definitely bring nothing of value with you out on the sand except your vehicle keys (leave money and DL in your car) so that's all you really need to worry about...or get a magnetic key holder and leave you key on your vehicle with the magnetic holder up under the frame somewhere. Then all you need on the sand is your blanket/book/cooler and those are typically things most people aren't going to bother to steal...at least around here.

Yes my friend has, it's a bit of a Mr. Bean performance. He can actually put his trunks on under his trousers without any fuss and then ties his car keys to the strings that hold up the trunks and buries any small change under a large rock with a carrier bag sticking up underneath it so he can remember which rock it was. Mind you by the time some of these things have gone wrong the tide is in and everyone has left the beach and the sun has gone in.

Nope, I don't have fun on the beach without having friends or family around. But if I did, I'd only take the bare minimum with me. Everything else would stay in the car. Take the towel, a little cash and the car key, unless you have keyless entry.

what stuff do you need for a swim, A towel? Is your beach in a that bad a neighbourhood?

Unless you're swimming naked and you're afraid of someone taking your clothes so they can see you without them, there is nothing to worry about.

People have their own STUFF they don't need yours. get over yourself.No-ones going to steal your clothing, a towel or your house keys. Now if you take your wallet or money to the beach...... well then you are just asking for it.

I do it all the time! Just dont take anything too expensive with you and keep an eye on it when you are in the water!! Or ask someone near you on the beach if they could keep an eye on it for you!

Simple, keep all your valuables in the car, get an old tatty beach towel and even tattier hat and tie your keys to that or ask a nearby shopkeeper / stall or lifeguard to keep your kees.

If I am there alone, I stay out of the water. My personal stuff stays there with me.

The up side to it all, is that I can enjoy the fine looking bottoms laying there in the sand.
