I am a guy despite my avatar I'm a guy and I once had the same problem and this is what I did:
1.I met a girl in a place at school.
2.I went to the same place hoping to find her there and I did so I ask her, her name and she asked for my e-mail.
3.Talk to her for a week or two and got to know her.
4.Ask her out.
She didn't say yes but thanx to her I'm no longer nervous when it comes to asking girls out and also we're such good friends now that she hooks me and some of her friends up sometimes and I'm currently going out with one of her best friends. So it works.

Girls arent martians and believe it or not we do actually like it when boys make the first move. So just start by talking to her and getting to know more about her and give her the chance to get to know yu. then ask her out on a date and then go from there. If she accepts then she obviously likes you or she ouldnt acept whereas if as is she doesnt then you know where you can stand and you can move on.

Don't tell her yet. Just try to take the relationship to a platonic friendship level first. Then, as you know her better, you will slowly work up the courage. Hanging out in a big group with her wouldn't hurt, too. Just don't make it too obvious.

Just casually make small talk. Slowly get comfortable with her and then ask her to lunch at a place that is casual, or something.

You may be nervous but just go for it. Tell her. What have you got to loose. You will regret it if you don't.

If you act all nervous and awkward, then she'll never like you b/c you don't have any confidence. Just go to her and ask her man.
