I hear you can eat limpets..?

I'm going on a school beach trip to sample rock pools. Me and my friend made a deal if i eat one he has to eat one also, he is kinda squeemish. Do i need to look out for certain things to make sure i can eat it raw? Best way to remove one?

be careful, limpets have an inner flat core, like a tooth that is sharp and can cut your mouth. Make sure there is no report of red tide at that beach, or the limpet could kill you.

you may want to take some fresh water with you to rinse them off and a pocket knife to pop them off the rocks.
