Wouldn't that be a decent maketing campaign they could incorporate into their title sponsorship? They could use Sprint in there somewhere, anyway, but I think that would sound cool for the last 10 races. What do you think?

I hear you Matt, that's why I would use it in reference to the last 10 races, which would then make it more of a sprint.

I don't know if you saw the announcement on ESPN but they will be changing it to Sprint next year, that's a done deal.

I like it but I also think that its the Nextel cup now and that shouldn't be changed anymore that than the AT&T 31 car. But if Sprint wants these name on the series then they should understand why AT&T wants their name on Burton's car. Its just kind of childish..

That would be cool. Every driver is in the "Race for the Chase" and the ones that make it "Sprint for the Cup". That really is a neat idea. And that way they can incorporate both names in with sponsoring NASCAR without changing the entire name back and forth from Nextel to Sprint. I like it. You should find a way to take it to the "higher up's" of NASCAR.

That's a really good idea! It'll definately work with the rumors that Sprint/Nextel is planning on changing the name from Nextel Cup to the Sprint Cup.

That would be clever, but it is a long racing season. When you use the word "sprint" it makes it sound like it only takes a few races to get to the "chase." In baseball they say, "it's a marathon, not a sprint." I think the same applies to NASCAR. Plus, race to the chase does sound good.

Nextel out , Sprint in ? was a question yesterday & I wrote "Sprint to the Cup Series" as a name for the series, but the last ten should be called "The Final Sprint for the Cup"

i dont like it. sorry. it doesnt make sense for it to be called Nascar Nextel Cup Series and have the last 10 races be called Sprint. Even though Sprint and Nextel are together. If they used htat then they would have to change the sponsor and call it Nascar Sprint Cup Series and then that sounds like its a little sprint race, not a long 500 mile race.

You might want to copyright that or something, their marketing department is totally going to steal it because that's the best thing I've heard since ESPN announced this yesterday. Sprint Cup Series sounds so weird to me.

Cheers!

I like it! :-)

By the way, they went from cigarettes to cell phones. Isn't it funny that either way, they got primary sponsorship from a product that's really annoying when other fans in the stands use them too much?
