Just as with any classification of criminal, the rehabilitation potential depends both on the individual defendant and on societal/family support upon release. The difficulty with most released inmates is that they are shown the door of the prison with the clothes they came in with and a "good luck." Then we act surprised when they return to the community they new and the behaviors they engaged in prior to being locked up.

Think about pedophilia this way: The pedophile primary sexual orientation is toward children. It is very difficult, if not impossible to change a person's primary sexual orientation. Imagine someone trying to change yours.
Most treatment programs focus on teaching the pedophile to recognize and understand his own behavior, and to try to teach them empathy for their victims. This is rarely successful.
They are paroled because that is the way our system is designed. They learn to say the right things to the parole board.

A paedophile who has crossed the line cannot be rehabilitated. More importantly, If he get caught by the police, he's been getting away with it for a long time. And once they get caught, sentenced and released, they are more likely to kill there next victim to insure they never get caught again. The law is not hard enough on these guys, but it is extremely difficult to prove without a reasonable doubt. Imagine being wrongfully accused of such a crime.

i doubt that they can be rehabbed...could someone make you
change your sexual preference and make it stick?
they get parole just like any other released felon. all the judge can do is assign jail time to a person . maybe three strikes and you're out? I'd hate to be victim numbers two and three...
