A p2p program is a program where users have files available to be downloaded by other users. There is no central server that hosts any files.

I use eMule Plus, it's free and open source...plus it doesn't come bundled with any spyware like LimeWire and others do.

P2P is a computer network that relies primarily on the computing power and bandwidth of the participants in the network rather than concentrating it in a relatively low number of servers. Peer-to-peer networks are typically used for connecting nodes via largely ad hoc connections. Such networks are useful for many purposes. Sharing content files containing audio, video, data or anything in digital format is very common, and realtime data, such as telephony traffic, is also passed using P2P technology.

I suggest using Limewire. Its much faster and has a drastically low amount of spy ware or viruses. It even tells you that the file may have a virus before hand so you can choose to delete it.

P2P is essentially file-sharing and means peer-2-peer. This means, a host computer which contains a file you want is a 'peer'. You will download your file from 'peers'. Of all the programs, Ares has fewer viruses, Limewire and Frostwire have many users a.k.a. 'peers', and Kazaa has the most files to choose from. All of them contain VIRUSES too. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!
