First gay marraige killed the dinosaurs, now four out of five Baptist divorcees agree that it's undermining the sanctity of marriage. We must do something!

Being gay is not natural. Real Americans always reject unnatural things like eyeglasses, polyester, and air conditioning.

Gay marriage will encourage people to be gay, in the same way that hanging around tall people will make you tall.

Legalizing gay marriage will open the door to all kinds of crazy behavior. People may even wish to marry their pets because a dog has legal standing and can sign a marriage contract.

Straight marriage has been around a long time and hasn't changed at all like many of the principles on which this great country was founded; women are still property, blacks still can't marry whites, and divorce is still illegal.

Straight marriage will be less meaningful if gay marriage were allowed; the sanctity of marriages like Britney Spears' 55-hour just-for-fun marriage would be destroyed.

Wait! There's more reasons to reject gay marriage!

Straight marriages are valid because they produce children. Gay couples, infertile couples, and old people shouldn't be allowed to marry because our orphanages aren't full yet, and the world needs more children.

Obviously gay parents will raise gay children, since straight parents only raise straight children.

Gay marriage is not supported by religion. In a theocracy like ours, the values of one religion are imposed on the entire country. That's why we have only one religion in America.

Children can never succeed without a male and a female role model at home. That's why we as a society expressly forbid single parents to raise children.

Gay marriage will change the foundation of society; we could never adapt to new social norms. Just like we haven't adapted to cars, the service-sector economy, or longer life spans.

I hope you know you sound really stupid right now. Honestly, humans weren't around when the dinosaurs walked the earth. Open a science book. Secondly, why the hell would you ask a DIVORCEE about the sanctity of marriage? They didn't like the sanctity of their marriage. THAT'S WHY THEY DIVORCED IN THE FIRST PLACE!!! Thirdly, Americans do not reject unnatural things. The computer you used to type this ridiculous question is unnatural, you MORON!!!! Now, I am a Presbyterian and I support gay marriage; that is my opinion. But to say something as stupid as gay marriages make people gay, is just beyond stupid. It's half-witted. Gay marriage is not a link to crazy behavior. Crazy behavior is linked by stupid people, like you, who get the chance to say what illogical ideas on their minds. Fourthly, women are no longer and had had the right to vote since 1920. There are even female politicians. The Speaker of the House is a WOMAN!! African Americans can marry Caucasians. There are no laws that make interracial marriage illegal since the late 1960s. Divorce is not illegal. It has never been illegal in the United States. If that were true, five out of five of those Baptist divorcees would been in jail or something. Marriages that should be banned are marriage where the husband and wife don't get along. They are not happy. There can't only be lust; there must be incondite love. Love, happiness, commitment, caring and support are needed in a marriage and if any type of marriage, whether it is straight or gay, lacks any then the marriage will be true. Marriage is more than a piece of paper with a couple of signatures of it; it is a bond and a friendship. I may be only sixteen, but I know that if a gay has all of the things that I mentioned above, but a straight marriage does not then, the gay couple will be better off. In conclusion, your question is plain narrow-minded, half-baked, and idiotic. Take your head out of your butt and read the newspaper for goodness sake!

Thanks... I've seen it before, but it still made my afternoon! The really sad thing- as at least one other person has mentioned- is that more than a few of these arguments have been used, though perhaps in a different context, and people are so blissfully ignorant and used to being spoon-fed their beliefs that they buy into these silly nonsensical arguments hook, line, and sinker. The only one that's missing is the "a child needs a mommy and a daddy" line (unless it was added later)... as though only an "ideal" family can be entrusted to raise children- which means we'll need to find new homes for the 50 million or so kids in the U.S. alone that don't currently live in "ideal families". On top of the hundreds of thousands of minority, older, and terminally ill children already in need of a permanent adoptive home- but ineligible to be adopted to gay couples in many states.

LOL. Don't forget the instability of gay marriages as opposed to straight marriage, which can be confirmed by the very stable Scott and Lacy Peterson. God only knows how she ended up at the bottom of San Francisco Bay

LOL...please tell me this is a joke. Because there ARE people who actually think this way, if you can call it thinking.

OK, I've read some more. I'm pretty sure you're joking. Good one. Now I'll just sit back and see how many of these 'holes on here take it seriously and agree with you - like this example above me.

I suppose your real point is that the only argument against gay marriage is the "religious" one, and since America is NOT a theocracy, but a secular democracy, it simply does not - or SHOULD not - matter what some religious lunatics think about the issue. But they'll proceed to argue that it's not about religion, it's a question of defending "tradition" (which is obviously only a euphemism for religion in this case) - but, as you've pointed out, if our primary concern was always to defend tradition, we'd all still be living in caves. Progress of any kind depends on "upsetting" the established order of things.

well there is way too much sarcasm to be able to tell which side you are trying to take as well as the fact that you were advocating the opposing side as well. so if i agreed with you, i'd be both for and against gay marriage. SURE!

I love it!

Here's a disturbing thought though, about the whole marrying animals thing.

There is a ritual posted online that a Wiccan man used to handfast (Marry) himself and his horse.
