Dr Watson, I don't remember anyone asking for your familiarity with art or what you think someone else's motivation is for their comment AND I don't need you to reword Zoltar's jealous negativity so that I can better understand it... The question posed was which painting do you like best. If you have an answer to the question, then give it, if you don't like any of them or are jealous and just want to hate on it, keep your thoughts to yourself simpleton. That being said... I personally like Rex. Great work!

There is certainly nothing wrong with an artist promoting himself and having Judith come in instantly as a validation factor was a nice, though very obvious, touch (even if Judith is spaming us, which is against Yahoo Rules).
And you do have plenty of natural talent.
However, you've asked our opinions and you've asked a groups of Yahoo people, many of whom are damn good artists themselves, what we thought of your art. If you want honestly then we don't need to hear from your back-up saying we don't know anything about art or artists.
As to what I think, honestly? It's cute, it's pretty, it's going to be popular to a certain type of collector and you'll be able to make a living from your art. However, never deceive yourself for one moment into believing that it is highly original or is in some way a unique style. If anything it is highly derivative of many other styles from the PopArt period.
And what Zoltar was saying is that it is 'been-there-done-that' art. This does not mean that it isn't technically top notch or very professionally done. It's just been done before (Judith even provided us with examples of some of the artists that you've 'borrowed' from) and all you're offering as original is the dog as subject matter in pop art.
You'll do fine making a living with these paintings. Just try not to be thin-skinned when it's not always appreciated by others because you're going to come across a lot of knowledgable people who will know the difference between fine and original.

First of all let me say this is by far Fine Art. Wow that was a pretty ignorant statement that was just posted. I guess fine art is only landscapes, flowers, and portraits(people not dogs???) Not fine art...what a joke!
Art Business News apparently thinks Pop ARF is serious fine art. http://poparf.com/Abn_article_march2007.html
The last comment would exclude artist like Keith Haring, Andy Warhol, Romero Britto, Peter Max, David Hockney, Roy Lichtenstein and many others.
My favorite by far of your artwork Mr. Janes is "Mutz The Urban Underdog!"

My favorite is Zipper and the picture of the doggie in the popcorn(not sure of the name of the picture)! Your art is unique and there is a great need for your type of art in the communtiy because dogs and cats are our family and we need to celebrate that part of our culture through art! Keep up the great work!

Could there be a harder question to answer? WOW! Well let's see...Rex and A Dog Day of Summer have really caught my eye. Rex b/c it makes me think of how many dogs have been used in war, but never get recognized for it. A dog Day of Summer just really captures the dog's simple joy of feeling the wind in his face. So sweet!
BTW...even though this art is called pop arf, will we ever see a pop meow? *wink*
