That's just small behaviour by small people, elli. We are all capable of it. Just try not to sink to their level -- and don't assume all atheists are like that either; the ones I personally know are generally more respectful than the ones here. At Yahoo in R&S most people are just trying to provoke you, not engage in a genuine discussion.

This forum can be challenging but you do have to maintain a good sense of humor about it. I wouldn't say that all religions respect one another. If you're on here long enough you'll be told by another Christian that because you're Catholic you're wrong.......it's unfortunate that we have to be nasty and I do understand the frustration. I'm a Buddhist but was a Catholic for 27 years so I do sympathize. Don't take it all so seriously. My husband is an atheist and he gets attacked far more in 'real' life. I think this forum is a safe place for atheists to express themselves. In their lives they are a minority and I feel for them as well.

Religions dont respect each other. If they did then 90% of the worlds wars would end. The Catholic religion is a joke anyway. I mean sin all week and be forgiven on Sunday???
Religion is stupid and the world would be far better off without organized religion. I believe in god but I dont believe in that silly mess called religion.

Those aren't Atheists.. If they hate God that means that they believe.. They're calling Catholics dumb because they like feeling superior. I'm an Atheist, but I don't "hate" God, because I don't even believe in him. I've never had to resort to name-calling unless someone is typing like "omg u stup1d r3t4rd!1!111!!!1!". That is what I call dumb. If believing in God makes you happy and a better person, then good for you. Ignore the idiots who have to resort to name-calling. They're probably idiotic 12-year-olds, or simply trolls.

It's not only atheists that denigrate Catholics, believe me.
It seems to be a sport, of sorts, for American Puritan Fundamentalists to do so.
I understand you're unhappy about the way you feel you have been treated by the Godless ones, but please, remember that they are not the only ones who are capable of extremely childish behaviour, here in R&S.
And you are not alone in having your most cherished beliefs mocked. It has happened to me, too.
Unfortunately, it is the price paid for participating in a forum such as this.
I wish I could offer words of comfort, but unfortunately, there are none.
Welcome to the jungle.

Why would an atheist post that they hate God, if they don't believe he exists?
Can you post a link?
As for all other religions respecting each other, I seem to recall some "minor" sectarian fighting tearing apart Iraq.

I get worked up sometimes when people make blanket statements implying that since I'm a Christian I must lack the ability to think for myself. But the statement you made is just as bad. This site is harsh, but in real life most atheists you meet will be respectful of your beliefs. I only know one in real life who is like the extreme personalities on this site, and he's just a jerk all around.

You have to believe in God to hate Him so the posts can't be from Atheists.

Seventeen? and about twenty exclamation marks? I've not seen anyone saying they hate god but I've just seen another Christian whining about being persecuted at the first opportunity. Either link to these so-called hate posts or nail yourself to some wood.

I don't hate God because I don't believe he exists, so I can't hate something that isn't there. I don't disrespect other peoples choice to be religious because it is YOUR choice just like me being an Atheist is MY choice. To each his own!
