it is a v6 hard top with 68,000 miles. It has had work done to it but it is in good condition He wants $6000. What are the pros and cons and do you think it is a good car? I am 34 years old so insurance shouldn't be terribly expensive.

Mustang is very reliable car, my daughter just traded hers off with 92,000 on it, the only repair that was ever done was a brake job. Mustangs do have one common problem if it has an automatic, they tend to leak transmission fluid from the transmission output seal, in Fords world to repair it takes a new extension housing and slip yoke. We just left it alone, it didn't leak very bad anyway.

That sounds like an acceptible price for it. I checked the past Sunday want ads in my area, and that's in the area for a 2000 "Stang", maybe a tad bit high, you could probably get him down a little. (In my paper, there was only one, 2001 with price of $5500. I'd check your paper to get idea of what prices are going in your area.)

I don't care for Mustangs myself, think they're too boxy looking, could be sleeker, but then half the world is either buying one or wanting to buy one, so they're very popular.

My one complaint is that my friends bought the 40th edition Mustang before the new retro design came out, and I test drove it, and was shocked at how lacking the sound system sounded. For a Mustang, I'd thot it'd be lots better. But otherwise, they're good cars. The 6's are okay. Does yours have 5 spd or auto? Either way, they're fun to drive.

So if you can afford it, go for it!! Enjoy it while you can in your youth.

Check with consumer reports, I am about to sign off to go somewhere and saw your question and dont have time to do it. I know the V8 stangs from 98-2007 were excellent but for the V6's there were a few years that had some below average reliabillity scores. I would deffinately check with consumer reports via online or magazine at the book store before buying.

Probably a good price but you need to check for parts and such when you need work done to it.........

I've lost all respect for Ford after owning several of their products myself...........
