It's not from "reading too many books". There's an actual connection between brain activity and eyesight.
I'll try to find the research webpage, hold on...

See, nowadays, intelligent people wear contact lenses and it's hard to tell.
On to the real answer,
People who wear glasses usually read a lot or use the computer quite extensively, which usually results in more knowledge.
More knowledge will make a person seem more intelligent because he/she will be able to use the knowledge to apply to things in life and solve problems which people with a lack of knowledge wouldn't be able to do.
So, maybe it's only that you think they are intelligent when in actual fact, it's because they read more and therefore, seem more intelligent.
I'm not saying that people with glasses are not intelligent, it's just that people who aren't as intelligent just seem more intelligent than they are because of the knowledge they have. However, it might just be that knowledge is meant to improve intelligence, and the definition of intelligence is that itself.
We have two kinds of memories, one being intelligent memory, which is the one that we subconsciously use to solve problems and knowledge results is more of this, which makes someone with knowledge smarter.
Hopefully, this has answered your question.

People wear glasses because they've been for an eye test and realised they need them to see properly. I don't know if there's any correlation with how intelligent you are. I suppose you could argue that you have to be bright enough to realise that being able to see what you're doing is more important than what you look like.

Thats a little stereotyping don't you think?
It seems to be that glasses make you look more matured, educated and intelligent also make others to listen and respect you.
So maybe thats a good start for people who wear glasses?

Smart people in general have different priorities. Someone who is fixated on their physical apperance doesn't give a damn about something as small as, "being able to see". But, a rational, intelligent person would rather see clearly than have a bikini wax or a pair of Hollister low rise jeans.
Get my drift? Smart people don't have bad vision (God is not cruel), it's that dumb people are not smart enough or motivated enough to focus on a REAL issue like not seeing clearly.
Lesson learned: Get your eyes checked!

The more intelligent people also know how to spell wear. It probably is that the more sensible person will realise the necessity for regular health and eye checks and will therefore possibly have glasses to correct a slight vision defect in order to prevent it getting worse, whereas the person not so intelligent or concerned will not bother with eye checks and not get glasses until such time that their vision has deteriorated considerably. It is a case of equating intelligence with common sense.

Because people tend to live up to their expectations. A child of normal intelligence, who is short-sighted and so has to wear glasses, is often regarded as a 'swot' because the wearing of glasses gives that impression, and because he or she may prefer quiet activities to rough games in view of the danger of the glasses getting broken. The child is then encouraged to develop his/her academic potential, and having started on that road is likely to continue with intellectual pursuits, and in adulthood may seem to be super-intelligent although in fact of only normal intelligence.

because they read more and so their eyes focus more in the short sight which develops a problem or being able to change focus easily, i never used to read a lot but when i started my eyes got worse.
