My three year old mixed race son attended his preschool sports day. The whole staff paid my son little or no attention. We only found out about the sports day THE DAY BEFORE and had no time to prepare or anything.

There was a sack race and my son was plopped into a sack. He had NO IDEA what he was doing and tried to run. Of course he kept falling. His key worker picked him up and ran the course with him, but he was so sad.

Shouldn't the school have practiced first?

Jeff W: Thanks for taking your hand from your manhood long enough to type your response. Assuming you didn't type it with your manhood, which would explain things a lot better.

They should have at least explained what to do, how does a kid learn if you do it for him? I'd be frusterated too, specially with little or no notice, you could have practiced at home.

Your school shouldn't have been having competitive activities for children that young in the first place! Preschoolers are too young not to take losing personally. In addition, many don't have the coordination to do a sack race without getting hurt. Many threes still can't jump well. If this competitive atmosphere spills over into the classroom I'd find another program. In any case, speak to the teacher and the administrator to let them know how you feel. By all means mention the late notification. This is a good time to remind your child that he is loved and sometimes adults make mistakes.

Forget practicing beforehand... the school should have chosen more appropriate games/races for your sons age group! How on earth would a 3 year old have the co-ordination for a sack race let alone understand what was going on... slack preschool... maybe you should make a mild suggestion to them for next year. Poor little guy... give him a cuddle...

That is cruel. You know to show a child what to do, you don't through them in the deepend if they can't swim. Have a good long hard talk with the principal of the school.

i think this is a form of racism march straight into the school and demand to see the principal and teach him all the sports he needs to no therefore next year he will be able to beat everyother kid and tell him he done you proud and take him out for a treat
