Gen 15:5 God promised Abraham that his seed would be without number to the human mind, just as the stars are.
"Now look toward the heaven and count the stars, if you are able to count them", So shall your decendants be"

If the bible were written according to science (which some say) Abrahams descendants would have ended before the fourth generation, because the scientists at that time believed that there were only 4096 stars!

Ptolemy AD 200 ... 1028 stars
John Flamsteed 18 century 3000 stars
1862 with telescopes .... 300,000 stars.

Today .... science says over 200 billion stars in our galaxy alone, and Abrahams seed are without number (to the human mind) just as are the stars.

Pretty cool huh????

You do realize that there are more stars in the universe than there are grains of sand on the earth, right? There's no way the earth could support such a population. Right now we only have 6 billion people, and already it's getting a bit uncomfortable.

Now, you may say they won't all be here at the same time. New people are born as others die. But then for enough generations to come and go as to equal the number of stars, that would mean the end is not near, as many religious folk like to believe. In fact, then end is nowhere close, for it will take billions of years for the total number of people who have ever lived to equal the number of stars.

God Bless You. Amen. Ditto.
Leviticus Chapter 12. When a woman has a child, she is to be isolated for a week. Anyone who touched her had to wash their hands, bathe, and change their clothes.
Two reasons for this: The mother and child isolated to avoid the mother and child getting sick.
Also, the isolation allows the mother and child to achieve a strong emotional bond, and give the mother time to rest after giving birth.
Hand washing and bathing were ritualistic among the Hebrews. Why? They took it as 'law'. This is what God told them to do. God was looking out for their health, 4000 years ahead of modern science.

Actually, we've got a pretty good number for the number of people on earth. 'Bout 6.2 billion. Yea, that's a number. Wrapped my head around it pretty easy too.

Pretty cool. Just goes to show that 'God's ways are not our ways, and His thoughts are not our thoughts. For the heavens are higher than the earth, so are God's ways higher than our ways and God's thoughts higher than our thoughts.'

I'd be surprised if Abraham could count to 12.

Just more evidence of the awesome glory of God. Who are we to think we can even begin to understand Him save for what He is willing to reveal to us. I think if we knew any more our brains would explode. :-)
