I have a strange problem, even the engineers with Chrysler haven't come up with a fix yet....When driving, it doesn't matter what speed, or with or without cruise contron on, periodically the speedometer will drop, say if you are going 60MPH the speedomete will drop to around 20-30. The car does not loose speed, but sometimes it feels like there is a skip or miss in the engine. It has been in the shop several times for this. They have checked all the wiring, and have installed a scan in my car so that they could see what it was doing. This scan showed the problem all the way to the cluster in the instrument panel, which they have complete changed out...but the car still has this problem...DOES ANYONE ELSE HAVE THIS PROBLEM, AND ANY IDEAS ON HOW TO FIX?

i have repaired one of those already ,and i don't know why the dealers cant find this problem with them, its the speed sensor that caused this to happen but it wasn't bad it just lost its ground wire, but the dealer i went through paid for having the speed sensor replaced and the ground wire repaired,if you,ll go back to them and tell them to check the main ground for this they will find it,the engine and transmission doesn't have much of a ground on them, and when it gets loose or doesn't ground good it will cause this ,it will also cause a skip in it,or a change of gears, what its doing it going back out of lock up converter mode on it,its no big deal though ,just tell them to check the ground wire, they ,ll find it then.you,d think they would know to do this, good luck with it.

I have worked on a couple of Dodge vehicles. I know you said the dealership put in a new gauge cluster but did you actually see them do it. I have found that from the factory the gauge cluster is loose on several Dodge models. This will cause several of the gauges to do strange things. Next time you see this happen try to push on the cluster in different areas and see what happens. If the problem goes away well then there is your answer. That would mean they did nothing.

Here is the real fix" three trys is all Dodge gets". Leave the car write down the miles call the dodge company and tell them one more try and if you do not fix this spedo problem you buy the car back. Oh by the way your paying for the rent car while your'e trying to work out this problem. And tell them I do not feel safe driving a car when electrical componets are acting up what if the car quits on me in a bad neighborhood? 30 days out of service while your making car payments is also key to getting a buy back. I bet if push come to shove your car gets fixed in a couple of days.

Has the Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) been replaced? It's on the output of the transmission and is a simple magnetic pickup. It can accumulate a coating of ferrous "fuzz" and start to read erratically. That's the usual cause of the speedo dropping out.
