It's in Luke 8:11. And the very next verse is about being saved by this word.

People say the Bible is the Word of God, but the Bible as we know it today did not exist when Jesus was speaking. So what was this seed he was speaking about? I doubt very much that he was passing out hand written copies of the old scripture either.

What is this seed that saves?

Jesus himself sowed seed - the word of God. He spent three and a half years doing this. What was his subject matter? Luke 4:43, 44; Luke 8:1. The subject matter of his ministry was the good news of God's kingdom.

This is the word of God about which Jesus spoke: the good news of God's kingdom. The sowing of this seed is so important that Jesus said it would be carried out throughout the world right up until the end: Matthew 24:14.

You are correct in saying that the New Testament was not in existence at that point but Moses and the Prophets were, which Jesus in another parable said was enough.

Jesus and His disciples came with a very simple message to "Repent (which means to turn to God and His ways, to turn away from your ways), believe the good news(Jesus' teachings) and be baptized (which means to have your sins washed away. If you are baptized with the understanding that you are dying to your old way of living and have changed your mind to wanting to live for God, your sinful nature will go into remission).

In the Book of Revelation, the ETERNAL GOSPEL is quoted, which says "Fear God and give Him glory, because the hour of His judgment has come. Worship Him who created the heavens, the earth, the sea and the springs of water." (see Rev. 14:6-7)NIV

So, fear God (not terrorists or anyone other than the true God) and worship Him (true worship, not just some chants or songs about Him)

Love the LORD your God and love your neighbor as yourself.

Basically the answer is that people delight in twisting words - whether it be the words of God or Jesus speaking on behalf of God.
As such if one behaves in a reasonable manner all through life then one can expect be have people behave the same way back and thereby life is relatively ok.
All the parables are just another way of saying to abide by the Commandments, the Rules of Life.
The Bible was written for dumb people - it is no mystery - just lots of stories trying to get through to people that kicking your neighbour in the teeth ain't on.

To summarize the point of the Parable of the Sower: “A man’s reception of God’s Word is determined by the condition of his heart.” A secondary lesson would be “Salvation is more than a superficial, albeit joyful, hearing of the gospel. Someone who is truly saved will go on to prove it.”

What a superb concept...of direction, you may desire to incorporate adequate tips with regard to the communicate of alternative characters and putting for his words to make experience...yet that would desire to be accomplished in a rely-of-actuality way that made it sparkling it grew to become into purely "staging" for the words of Jesus. If no longer something, proscribing the message of the bible to the words of Jesus could be certain than a significantly better sort of "Christians" unquestionably knew and understood what Jesus commanded them to do.

Well the first seed fell by the wayside-it means that preaching the goodnews of the Kingdom or the Words of GOD to those peoples who are merely commuting or traveling as they are seeded or had received the goodnews only remember them temporarily. As it is so the devil comes and make them forget what they have learned along the road or while traveling. The 2nd seed fell among the thorns. This means that the goodnews were preached to peoples who have serious cases/ problems in their lives like worries of money, worries of rank/status, worries of works/families; and because of these troubling worries, they merely remember these in their troubled hearts and when the devil comes he takes away what were sown in their hearts. The 3rd seed fell among the rocks-this means that the word of GOD or the goodnews of the kingdom were preached to peoples with hardened hearts and learn little about what were preached to them; so when the devil comes he takes away what was sown though little in their hearts. And the 4th is the word of GOD or the goodnews of the Kingdom fell on good ground-this means that what were preached to them they seriously planted them in their hearts and they produce godly characters many times more as models of the families, the communities, peoples and even of worldwide recognition.THANKS GOD; FEAR GOD; PRAISE GOD; GLORIFY GOD; HONOR GOD;LOVE GOD AND WORSHIP GOD. The word of God or the seed is sown when it is taught and shared. It can be any word of God but those who hear and receive it with the right heart will benefit from it.
