Good answer proserpina, but the names don't imply they could be whatever form they're named. Also, judging by Chompsky's hypothesis on how language is what it is today, it seemed like sign language, the visual language had trouble when it came to corners and walls if you know what I mean.

Well chances are astronomical to say the least that something like this would ever happen. I mean even if they came from a planet that was identical to Earth in terms of size and distance from it's star, the type of star that it orbited and, it EVEN had a satellite the size of the moon, which would be quite the coincidence already. Their evolutionary path would be entirely different from our own making it very likely that these aliens would be very alien indeed. For example it's not entirely crazy to assume that had that giant asteroid not hit the Earth 65 million years ago, some sort of dinosaur might have not evolved into an intelligent species. Their were some smaller kinds who had pretty large brains judging by the cranial cavity it might have been only a matter of time and yet, by chance the course of evolution was changed. So if aliens do land on earth it's very likely that their language would so different it'd might sound to us like grunts, growls, squawks, or whale song, and sound might not even be their primarily source of communication, their language could be visual instead. Realistically it's just absurd to think that they'd call themselves Satan. I think for the most part humanoid aliens like the ones on star trek is wishful thinking.

However for the sake of argument, I think that it would add more apprehension and controversy to the already tumultuous
reactions that would result from a first contact. People are already afraid of the unknown, and terrified for the most part of the thought of a more advanced civilization, and they would be just that if they're capable of inter stellar travel. There would be groups of christian fanatics who would want to go over the governments head and wage war against the aliens. Ultimately I think it would rest in the aliens' hand whether the situation gets truly ugly or not. It'd be smart to study up on a planet before you're landing on it and, if their intentions were to come in peace they probably wouldn't introduce themselves as being "satans" right from the start. Only reveling that much later when the people of Earth are more then aware that they're intentions on Earth is benevolent. There will be some people who'd never come to trust them but, if they're really not hostile even Christians would adapt to the name they took completely out of phonetic coincidence.

I never believe anyone when they bleat on about terrorists. If that were all it was-- free them. BUT the real issue is actually disease communicability. They'd have to be quarantined or humans or aliens or both will go extinct. So do you make a prison island for them on earth? I might as well send them on their way on the prison ship. Not because I believe or agree with anything the captors have told me, but for the safety of the human species.

The chances are down right impossible, for our planet to even get visited at all.

(We can't see other planets from other solar systems, we only know they are there by gravitational pull they have on their sun.)
They would not only, have to see our planet, but they would have to suspect life or see life to want to travel all the way here.

The nearest star to our solar system, if it's got a planet good for life, may not have intelligent life on it, it could be all microscopic water creatures or some other type of wild life.

Personally, I don't want to get visited, who would travel that far for nothing ?

We would be like dumb animals just waiting to be push aside (like we the to the animals of this planet).
Or worse and more likely be made into slaves.

if Aliens could travel across millions of light years and survive. I doubt that they would crash, or that we would pose any kind of threat to them.
