Could be an ingrown hair causing an infection. Do you use tampon applicators? They can sometimes scratch the inner vaginal walls and cause a little infection. Infected discharge usually has a foul odor, but not always. Yellow is a common indicator of an infection.

Does it come and go? If you're young and within 5 years or so of getting your first period, it could be just hormonal adjustments, especially if it comes and goes.

Is your mons tender when the labia swells? Does that lip turn red and/or warm? That also could indicate an infection.

Bottom line is call the triage nurse at your clinic. She will help you narrow it down with some more questions. Call the United Way First Call for Help at 2-1-1 if you need access to low-cost clinics.

If you're a minor still at home, tell your mom and make an appt to get in. Don't be embarrassed because things like this happen to almost every young woman at some point or another. and most are easily fixed (but most will need some sort of treatment to get you there...)

Sounds like trichinosis vaginitis or just a non-specific vaginal infection. Usually a trich infection has a foul odor, and a yeast infection has a white, cheesy discharge, so it's obviously hard to pinpoint. See your gyno and he/she can diagnose and treat it properly.

Sounds like a yeast infection, but since it seems you've never had one before, it's best to get it checked for a proper diagnosis.
