I've just been diagnosed through a blood test. I have not heard how my ultrasound came out yet. I was told that I had them but wasn't told anything more but to come back in 6 months. What do I do? What do I eat or not eat? Anyway to break them up so that I don't end up being in a lot of pain???

Gall stones will often pass on their own if they are small enough. Many people have them, and only take action in the case of flare ups. Usually the stones are cholesterol stones. There is another type, called pigment stones, that are less common, and aren't usually as problematic, so yours are most likely the cholesterol type. Often, people will be admitted to hospital for gall bladder attacks after a fatty meal. So, the number one preventative measure is stay away from fatty foods. Drink 8-10 glasses of water a day. You generally only need surgery if gallbladder attacks persist, or you develop pancreatitis as a result of blockage. A less invasive way to physically remove stones is by a procedure called ERCP.

I would get a second opinion. I f you have gallstones you need laproscopic surgery to remove your gallbladder. If you are not in pain now you will be soon because they do not go away by themselves. Usually you have pain and as they become worse you will have nausea and vomiting. Do not eat fatty greasy foods. See another doctor.
