The biggest reason people hate camping, is that few EVER truly camp. Camping isn't meant to be a crowd scene. Traffic noise, and music blasting from every direction-isn't camping. Try camping. Just you, and your camping companions- ALONE. That usually means wilderness. I camp 40 miles from the nearest town- which has 250 people. I've NEVER seen another person on the lake we camp on. NEVER. Eagles, bears, wolves, loons, and beavers- yup. People, no. Try real camping, before you write off camping.

A dislike for insects. If you're female...going camping while on your cycle. Going to a campsite that doesn't have the amenities you want. Raining while you're camping, the WHOLE time! (That happened every time I went but I still enjoyed it)
Actually it's really fun. I've only been camping 3 times and each time it was great...minus the rain I mentioned above. It depends on the attitude you bring with you, if you bring a bad one not only is it going to be unbearable for you but also for everyone else. If you're a high maintenance person you most likely won't enjoy camping because you may or may not have a shower, working toilets or electricity, hence you can't pamper yourself.

Okay, I love backpacking/camping and am very experienced, but my trip last weekend was a disaster.
We had one person and one dog get injured on a 10 mile hike into the wilderness. On day two we stayed in one place an it poured rain (contrary to weather report) when we weren't being eaten alive by mosquitoes. My back hurt and I couldn't get comfortable enough to sleep. Due to the injuries, I had to hike out alone, drive my truck as close as I could on forest service roads, and "rescue" everyone.
So, by the time we went home I was sore, tired, dirty, hungry, and covered with bites. Would I do it again? Of course, I will be out again in two weeks. My point is that all it takes for many people is one bad experience and they never want to do it again. And bad experiences are easy to have when camping, especially for the novice.

Because you can't play video games unless there's somewhere nearby that has electricity. That's why I hate camping anyways. Oh yeah, and when I went on a camping trip for school, our dumbass guide couldn't read the compass right and we got lost in the woods for most of the day.

First let me say I LOVE camping, but reasons to HATE it? I can think of quite a few:
Insects (flies, mosquitos)
Wild life (Attacks by bears, alligators etc...)
Uncomfortable Shelter (Excluding RVs and such)
Far Away Bathrooms
Uncomfortable showering (Some places you leave dirtier than you go in becuase your all wet and the sand and dirt sticks to your legs...yuck. Plus it aslo depends whether it's a timed shower, and you better hope it's NOT COLD)
Creepy/Strange Sounds At Night (Or weird shadows on your tent roof....)

I personally love camping, but I've heard plenty of other folks complain and here's an abbreviated list:
- I hate all the biting, buzzing, stinging, creepy bugs
- No Air Conditioning
- Claustrophobic in the Tent and/or sleeping bag
- Scared of spiders, snakes, the dark, ....
- Weird sounds at night
- Hate feeling dirty/sweaty/gross
- Restroom facilities are often dirty, ill-maintained, lacking TP
- Shower facilities -- lots of bugs flying around, the stalls are dirty/sandy, have to dry off and change in a public location
- Dirt gets into everything -- your tent, your shoes, your food, your hair, under your nails, ...
- It ruins your manicure/pedicure
- It is uncomfortable to sleep on the ground
- It is so much hassle to pack everything up to haul out to the campsite and get set up and the next thing you know it's time to pack it all back up again to head home.
- Can't play your Xbox/Playstation/Wii
- Cell phone coverage may be spotty, so (gasp!) a phone call might have to go to voice mail or you might miss a SMS.
- Noisy neighbors on one side of you who sing Kumbayah till 3am, and an early-bird on the other side of you who is up at the crack of dark to make breakfast and break camp.
The list goes on and on. If you want to find a reason to not enjoy camping I guarantee that you can find one.

I used to hate camping because I worked in the bush treeplanting for many years, and it just killed it for me. It seemed too much like work.
But now I'm over it, me and my woman are going camping tommorow night and we're gonna catch a whole whack of walleye too!

Here are some good reasons;
because...
You are spoiled.
You are close minded.
You are not willing to try new things.
You are shallow and concerned with materialism rather than the beauty of nature.
You are addicted to pop culture.
You concern yourself with trivial things.
You are a snob.
You are weak.
You are unable to protect yourself and unwilling to learn to do so in a natural environment.
You are pathetic.
You worry more about "American Idol" than the health of our planet or help to ensure that it's beauty can be enjoyed by future generations.
These are just few, but I hope that helps!

Because you're forced by circumstance and mental problems to go alone, and yet when you get up there, you encounter couples, groups of friends, and families enjoying and sharing the wilderness together, and you wonder why you ever left your computer. I suppose some people would go over and introduce themselves and see about making some new friends, but if I could do that I wouldn't have gone alone in the first place. I'd have gone with my best and only friend from childhood Casey, who's over here for the week and on vacation, but I'm too scared to see him after so many years.
