and is not now, accepted by the Hebrews as the Messiah. His 'adoption' by Joseph, if in fact that happened, was not what the Hebrew scriptures called for. That would not have made him a direct descendant. When Mary, according to later writers, claimed she was a Virgin, there was not proof of her lineage to King David either. It appears that the stories in the New Testament were twisted to try to meet the Messianic requirements of the Old Testament. Also, did Paul in all his wisdom, ever put it in writing that Mary was a Virgin?

Actually the prophsey of Isaiah which Christ did fufill calls for the Messiah to be from the house of David and Christ surely was. Chrsit was more than from the house of David but also was a decendant of David. The prophesy was fufilled.

Seventeen verses in the New Testament describe Jesus as the "son of David." But the question arises, how could Jesus be the son of David if David lived approximately 1000 years before Jesus? The answer is that Christ (the Messiah) was the fulfillment of the prophecy of the seed of David (2 Samuel 7:14-16). Jesus was the promised Messiah, which meant He was of the seed of David. Matthew 1 gives the genealogical proof that Jesus, in His humanity, was a direct descendant of Abraham and David through Joseph, Jesus' legal father. The genealogy in Luke chapter 3 gives Jesus' lineage through His mother, Mary. Jesus is a descendant of David, by adoption through Joseph, and by blood through Mary. Primarily though, when Christ was referred to as the Son of David, it was meant to refer to His Messianic title as the Old Testament prophesied concerning Him.

Mary and Joseph are from the lineage of David. That makes Jesus a direct descendant of David. Get all the facts before you try to make your case.

"Jewishness" is passed down from the mother.
Birth-rights can be inherited.

Besides, there were 2 separate lines from King David on down to both Mary and Joseph. Although the father's line is the line of inheritance, there was still a blood-line from David to Jesus, provable through mitochondrial DNA.

Joseph accepted Mary and her son, rather than rejecting them.

Besides, there was a blood-curse placed on the male blood line of David (Jeremiah 22:30). This special union between Joseph and Mary severed was necessary to sever that curse.

Why does it matter if they were connected? As a muslim, we accept Jesus as the Messiah, whether or not he was related to King David. And it's stupid to say that Jesus was made up. He's documented as a real person. The idea of whether or not he was Prophetic is what is debated. Also, both the Bible AND the Qur'an state that Mary was a Virgin.

Your definition of direct descendant may be different than mine.

The Redeemer was to come from Eves seed.
From the seed of Abraham
from the line of Judah
from the line of David

there is much in the bible where the chosen one was not a direct child of the preceeding chosen one, but was still of the line of Abraham and line of Judah and line of David.

I think you are confusing line with direct. Jesus Christ came from the line of David. Mary and Joseph were both actually from the line of David.

My friend I have to tell you that you need some Biblical knowlege. Jesus Christ was the son of Mary and Joseph. Each of these two persons belonged to the house of Judah and the family of David. I hope and pray that you will check this out more and realize that you are terribly wrong.

Jesus is not Jewish OK, he was the Son of God and the creator of everything in heaven and earth. Luke 3:23 And Jesus himself began to be about thirty years of age, being (as was supposed) the son of Joseph, which was the son of Heli,
Notice the word supposed!
1 Corinthians 12:13 For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.
Galatians 3:28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.
So if you believe the Bible you would understand that in Jesus Christ there is no Jew and Gentile or male and female.
