Sorry to hear of your diagnosis - yes you do but your best bet is to phone the Citizens Advice Bureaux and ask to speak with the person who deals with DSS claims who can advise you on what can be claimed.

Possibly someone can come out to you to help fill in the forms.

Alternatively pulmonary re-hab also give all such advice as well as learning how one can help oneself.

If you are considered "completley" dissabled, than you can get Social Security dissability benefits. However, the term "completeley" means that you couldn't sit at a desk typing, or answering phones or other non strenuous type work. That you need assistance dressing yourself, etc. It's tough to get S.S. on a dissability claim and involves applying and being turned down and appealing at least 3 times (which takes months), then hiring an attorney to try to get a hearing.

My mother was diagnosed with COPD & CHF. I obtained disability paperwork and filled them out myself. Her doctor said she wouldn't qualify, but she got it on the first try. I don't see how you can be denied disability if you have the diagnosos to back the information you provide. It is worth a try, all they can do is say no. Good luck.

sorry to hear of your problem. My dad had that and I know how it affected him.

You can apply to your local social services for an orange badge to enable you to park in disabled spaces. They will check with your doctor.

DLA is paid only for people aged under 65, unless they had one of those blue three wheelers. So if you are over 65 you are unlikely to benefit. If you are approaching that age then I'd advise you to put in a claim ASAP.

Attendance Allowance is paid for older people, but you need quite a bit of personal help for that.

These people can offer advice and information. http://www.disabilityalliance.org/

Sorry to hear that. Hubby has it too. Insurance covers the meds but they are expensive. try to stay away from steroid meds. Make other bad symptoms too! You can use asthma meds (OTC brands) to alleviate harse symptoms immediately.
