Congratulations on being possibly the best employee that nursery has! Contact your local Environmental Health Office (numbers are usually on the Council's website) also, contact Ofsted and report this disgusting manager as soon as possible. You should be very proud of yourself for being a caring, responsible, conscientious human being!
As a mother myself I was horrified to read the conditions at the nursery. If the manger gets more snotty with you then maybe using the local media might just be the kick up the rear that this horrid person needs to get their head out of their butt and on the phone to a pest control company. I think that probably the bad press could shut the nursery down as parents would be disgusted at the conditions their babies and toddlers were being cared for in. In fact the parents just might become an angry torch wielding mob when the facts become apparent!
You go girl! and Good Luck!

This nursery should have been closed long time ago. It is not only unhygienic but it is not good for the babies too. What if the babies get bitten by the mice.
If there were mice in any restaurant then it will be closed until the problem has been solved. People would even boycott the restaurant.
The parents should also boycott this nursery. The Parents are spending a lot of money in nurseries thinking their babies are well taken care of. I think besides from informing the Health Department you should also inform the parents. The health of the babies come first.

They MUST get this problem sorted as mice carry disease. Its not just the droppings which you can see which are the problem but the fact that mice constantly urinate as they run around. So if the mouse has run across a worktop, childs toy or bed, food, plates etc. even though there is no sign of it, there will be mouse urine on there. The children will put items in their mouth & could be sucking on something coated with mouse urine.
If the manager does not get it sorted & there is nobody on a higher level that you can complain to, then I would seriously consider reporting it to the Environmental Health Authority (anonymously, if you are worried about your job!).

There's obviously something that is making them stay around!! Health and safety should be contacted and they will give advice. Youngster and elderly are more vulnerable to the disease that they can bring. Apparently they don't have a bladder so urinate as soon as they stop. That's why you should store your cups with rim uppermost coz if the other way they tend to stop on the base of your cup or mug and the urine runs down and becomes unnoticed, so when you drink your tea it has extra flavour..... nice eh!

They either need to call an exterminator in or else close the nursery. If your boss doesn't call someone like ORTHO in to take care of the problem, report the problem to the CDC (center for disease control). I know it sucks because it puts your job on the line, but these babies health and lives are at stake.

you can report online or over the phone

Get them to sort it through Environmental Health, and if they wont then contact Ofsted. This is serious neglect, and does not in any way meet the National Day Care Standards.

gosh! if you don't report it, someone else like the parents will. then that will look bad on your report.
I'd report it and sometimes you don't have to give your name or give it but mention that you are employed and do not want to loose your position at the nursery.
Contact social services, or go to citizens advice centre, at least once you've been there, its on report and your side looks ok that you've reported it.
What ever you do, try and keep everything official as in: you have proof incase this dodgy sounding manager gets anymore evil with you.
as soon as you can.
