we discovered our friend dead on the couch. he'd probably expired 5 hours already. his left arm with almost clenched fist suspended up to his head, other arm spread outwards. his legs were stiff forming somewhat similar to a bow legged while his feet and toes were curled and clenched together. i want to know if this is possible that he died in this position from heart attack/cardiac arrest. we are wondering why his hands were not on his chest instead were spread out wide. it looked like he froze at that position. we wanna make sure theres not foul play.

To be very brief fulfill your legal obligation as a law abiding citizen; and ask for coroners report. The police will handle the case and a copy of the same can requested from the police deptt.

The position means nothing. Kind of sounds like it might have been a seizure. Only an autopsy can tell. Even then, the doc may not know. The chest clenching thing only happens in the movies.

From your description it could be from extreme pain, like a brain aneurysm or stroke, then it could be rigermortis.
But the most potential, accurate cause would be from the results of a coroner's autopsy. Leave it to and wait for the professionals for the answer.

A medical examiner will be the only one to determine what exactly happened. Unless he was a known drug user, possibly even if he was, they will do a whole investigation on his remains.

I'm sorry for your loss.

Leave this analysis to the police and the medical examiner, who have experience investigating such things.
