The position means nothing. Kind of sounds like it might have been a seizure. Only an autopsy can tell. Even then, the doc may not know. The chest clenching thing only happens in the movies.

From your description it could be from extreme pain, like a brain aneurysm or stroke, then it could be rigermortis.
But the most potential, accurate cause would be from the results of a coroner's autopsy. Leave it to and wait for the professionals for the answer.

A medical examiner will be the only one to determine what exactly happened. Unless he was a known drug user, possibly even if he was, they will do a whole investigation on his remains.
