Hi Doreen,
I find patches are helping me. But you really really want to have the desire to stop!
I say that as someone who has tried everything; paid £80 for hypnosis and all the rest.
My health is not too good now and I have been on the patches for the last 3 months.
The first 2 weeks are the worst for the withdrawal symptoms.
If you have the willpower to survive that then you are well on your way!
Why not speak to your doctor or pharmacist? I am sure they will be only to happy to advise you.
You say you are a heavy smoker; your doctor may be able to prescribe the patches on prescription.
I don't recommend Zyban, too many side effects.
As someone who has been there and still battling the addiction I would recommend the patches.
Hope you have someone you can talk too through your early stages of giving up. You will need all the support you can get.
You CAN do it sweet...go for it: for you, no one else; just for you.

There have been studys suggesting that smoking pot cannot harm the baby due to the smoke not being able to get inside the womb and it's all natural. It also can give the child a healthier birth weight by giving u the munchies. In my opinion smoking for neasua isn't that harmful but don't smoke heavily u should eventually quit for the sake of u getting drug tested at the dr. They always do now because so many people on pain killers while pregnant. If I were u I would research this on your own and read studys and do what u feel is right for u. Don't listen to negitive people I recently stopped smoking and it's not as hard as u would think I thought I couldn't go a day without it but it's really easy after the second day. Do what u feel is right and right for ur child.

I want to stop smoking too, so I have gotten the prescription for the Chantix but haven't had it filled yet as it is pretty expensive but not as expensive as smoking 2 packs a day. It is $128.00 at CVS pharmacy in Tn. Many of my friends have quit and they say it helps alot to take a shower 3 times a day at first. It gets rid of toxins that come out when you quit. Also walking and keeping your hands busy. Good luck (and to me too) I will put you on my prayer list too, That's the Best way.

I think the main thing you need is will power !
But patches combined with the inhalor is great ... the inhalor keeps your hands busy and you can at least pretend you're smoking where as the patches really do help with the cravings.
Apparently though, the tablet that's just been bought out is suppose to be fantastic ... maybe worth seeing your GP about it?
Whatever you decide I hope it works for you, and good luck X

Chantix is new, prescription aid. There's also the patch, the gum, the lozenge, all at the stores, over the counter. There's name brand ones, and generic brands. All of them work.
I used the nicotine gum and www.QuitNet.com as a support group. Go to the site & check it out. That place saved my life!

Will Power and a shortage of cash does the trick!
I gave up for 10yrs so I would guess that I had neither as I went bck on them...
I did try Zyban Tablets but without the will to pack it in, you won't win!
Not recommended for more than 6 weeks trial.
