This was the statement made by Pratibha Patil the presidentail candiate of India of the Indian Congress lead coalition Government. Is it correct ? What is your opinion?

It was never a practice of Indian women covering their face with Veil. Only married women, that too in North India put an end of the saree and cover their head as a mark of married lady.

I can't say whether it is true or not, but it is at least plausible. The idea, I think, was that the invaders would leave a woman alone if they couldn't see how pretty she was. I suspect, however, that it didn't work. Rapists seldom care how pretty, only that she is female. No, plenty don't even care about that!!!

This statement is not correct as this was the habit or custom of the Indian women. It is part of the traditional "Sari" dress that dates back long before any Mughul ruler.

no that is not right, it was in the history of india even before the invaders came to india.
