If you take care of yourself, watch your sugar levels, follow your doctor's advice, then the effects should be minimal at best.

Diabetes is a manageable disease these days. You don't say which type of Diabetes you have. From what I read of the disease; there are better treatments coming along all the time. Basically the disease requires you to adhere to a sugar free diet. There are great recipes on the Diabetic recipe sites. All over the world some of the greatest sportsmen and women have this illness. They handle the situation and control their problem. There isn't any good reason that you won't have a normal life.I am really certain that it won't be too long a while before scientists cure this illness. Good Luck!

It depends a lot on the person you marry. I have epilepsy, and developed diabetes while I was married. My husband is the most understanding person you can imagine--when we found out about the diabetes, we changed our diets right away, and the only negative comment he's made is a joke that he's going to ask for a refund of the $20 he paid Dad to marry me. There are probably going to be some problems with your sex drive--diabetes does have an effect on it, but then again, if you have an understanding partner, it shouldn't be a problem.

It sounds like this has not been lifelong, so I will assume that your diabetes is not the autoimmune disorder, rather you have Type 2 Diabetes. You can do a LOT to keep this under control. Eat healthier, exercise, lose weight are the main actions you can take. If it is Type 2 there is no reason you should suffer seriously for the rest of your life if you take action to get it under control.

If it is Type 1, autoimmune, there are so many new ways in which to keep insulin under check, so many devices which are comin out on the market that have lready made a vast difference to many peoples' lives.

So my answer is this: it doesn't have to be a huge part of your life, at all. It's up to you.

It will only be negative if you let it be negative. I have used it as a positive. It has forced me to take care of myself and lose weight.
