I am having a party this weekend and I will have more than 30 guests so it is beyond using regular plates , I will be using reusable flatware instead of plastic ones

styrofoam will never degrade.

Paper will break down over time, and is a renewable resource. Use paper.

Styrofoam is worse. You can buy recycled paper plates. For that matter you can buy plastic picnic plates that are washable and reusable, which would probably be the best .

Styrofoam is sturdier, but environmentally it's a disaster. Paper plates can be recycled. When we were kids my mom had these wicker plate holders for paper plates. You popped a paper plate in and after dinner you just tossed the plate and put the holder away.

paper is literally infinitely better for the environment. Styrofoam will be styrofoam in the year 5,002,007.

Paper will be nothing by January 2008. Maybe a bit longer if it's wax coated.

Styrofoam is around for a thousand years . You think a piece of paper can endure the test of time like that ?

The styrofoam you use will still be on the planet in 500 years. Its cheap to buy and using it is a cheap move.

Styrofoam is worse it takes longer to biodegrade (break down) and contains more chemicals that could be harmful for the environment

Paper places are better for the environment. Styrofoam are not biodegradable (sp?).
