The stroke was 6 years ago when they discovered diabetis. Parkinsons started approx 12-18 months but it is not caused by the stroke. Every night I am asleep by 10pm but wake for a couple of hours around 3.30am. I am 60 and have always slept well in past. How can I tell which problem is keeping me awake in the night.

I think you just have to add a 4th problem to your list of medical problems - insomnia. I would try Melatonin first, it is over the counter and does not cause excess drowsiness in the morning.

Maureen,

I have the same dilemma and at about the same time. I think it is just an age related thing. I don't usually take naps because I am too busy for that. Perhaps you should see your primary care physician for a consultation.

I do find it helps me to take one Tylenol about 1/2 hr. before bedtime. I don't take any sleep medicine or any prescription pain medicine. I just need that little Tylenol to knock the edge off a days worth of activities and age related aches and pains. This works for me about 85% of the time.

Hope this helps, with prayers too for you.

Many common natural remedies are claimed to have blood sugar lowering properties that make them useful for people with or at high risk of diabetes. Learn here https://tr.im/YYO5F

A number of clinical studies have been carried out in recent years that show potential links between herbal therapies and improved blood glucose control, which has led to an increase in people with diabetes using these more 'natural' ingredients to help manage their condition.

Well, I am 64 and I do the same thing and have none of those. Are you taking a nap after eating during the day? Are you taking medicine that causes night time bathroom usage, like diuretics?

sorry to hear about your problem you seem to go to bed early anyway most people wake up during the night when over 60 .is your room dark enough .try listening to radio when you wake up and try not to worry about this as it also could be the fault. windsor
