She might be a bit young to have the anti-bodies for raw-fish. Does the mom eat sushi? Does she breast feed? Because most of the anti-bodies can be transfered from the mom to the baby.
I would say you can definitely introduce some cooked sushi, like california roll, cucumber roll, eel roll...etc. I know when I was a little girl, I LOVED rice! Becareful of the seaweed, it might be hard to chew.
Koodos to being such a great parent to introduce your little one to international food at such a young age...lucky little one!

It depends on the sushi and if the toddler has any allergies. I live in Japan, and my family frequently goes to conveyor belt sushi restaurants. We started my son and daughter at about that age with basic tuna and Japanese omelet sushi making sure there was no wasabi in/on it. We also gave them sushi with cucumber and other soft or non seafood toppings to ease them in
Neither of my kids have allergies and we often eat grilled fish at home as well so they had a start to fish anyway.

Only give her cooked sushi. Make sure the pieces are small enough for her to chew it. Don't dip in the same sauce as yours, and don't put in wasabi. My kids ate sushi when they were toddlers, but nothing raw till they were seven years old.

Gosh no, it will kill a little kid. That's why there are no Japanese people. They all died as 2 yr. olds because their mommas gave them raw fish and seaweed.
Really, if you think it is fresh enough for you let the kid have it. The kid probably won't want the wasabi or pickled ginger though and I am sure won't like sea urchin.

I am sure a doctor would say to 2 years old for shellfish (thats what he told me) raw fish I am not sure about but if there is an allergic reaction the consequences can be enormous

Why not as long as it's good and fresh there should be no harm. Japanese children eat sushi.
