I have kissed a smoker, and I agree the taste is gross, however, long ago I learned smokers do not believe this of themselves, perhaps because they do not smell or taste the smoke and its effects the way non-smokers do.
This leads to a lack of understanding on their part, so if you do not have a positive reaction to a kiss this will almost always be thought of as a negative over-reaction.
Something that I have always found curious is the people who most strongly dislike the taste and smell of tobacco are those who were smokers, but have quit the habit.

I agree with Sabrina, knowing the person first is mandatory. Kissing a smoker IS like licking an ashtray, just nasty.

Yes, they are gross. I continue to see those that smoke in public with young children walking around. They're practically blowing tar into their throats. It's ridiculous.
Smokes from cigarettes have different chemicals in them than smoke from camp fires, and everything else, they're terrible for you. Heard of lung cancer??

I have. But I don't think that means all smokers are gross.

Personally I find shallow people more disgusting than those with bad habits.

No--usually I know the person well enough to know whether or not they smoke before I start swapping spit with them.
