The odds on dying during open heart surgery are 1 in 100 but with God on your side, there are no worries at all.

My wife and I will keep your sister in our prayers.

I had a triple by-pass in Dec 2006, was out in 5 days and I am fully recovered and back to work now. God is good !

I will definitely pray for her!!

I had open-heart two years ago, and whoever above me said that it's harder on the family than it is on the patient is right... for the most part! Taking out the chest tubes does hurt a little, but it's all good! My brothers have been where you are. I don't think anyone really said anything about it, we just joked around as normal. That made me feel better. Don't make her laugh too hard though! Laughing puts strain on the chest muscles, and that hurts right after heart surgery!!! :-) She'll be in my thoughts! If she is young like I was (13), I'm sure she'll bounce back! I had an 11-hour heart surgery on Wednesday, and left the hospital on Saturday morning! Three and a half days, whoo!

Also, I think something that will really help is setting up a carepage for her! (www.carepages.com) It's a really great way to update friends and for them to leave encouraging messages! My mom set one up for me before my surgery, and I love it so much that I still have one and update about hospital visits and stuff! Carepages is a great support system! I hope your sister does so well!

Clyn...

I've been where your sister is and let me tell you this, it is going to be harder on the family members than it is on the patient.

I'll certainly say alittle prayer for her, and you.

My prayers and best wishes to you both. Just went through this for the second time with my brother. Everything went very well and he was back to his old self in no time. Modern medicine is a miracle itself! Good luck and God Bless!

For some reason, this scenario sounds familiar. Lord, I come to You now, asking that you be with the nephew, the mother, and this entire family. Show them mercy and love. I pray his child survives. All in accordance with Thy Will. In Jesus' Name, thank You, Father. Amen. † Comforting Prayer Warrior †

Just a little human reassurance here - if your sister is having bypass surgery, it is one of the safest surgeries done. I hope you have good surgeons - they will be her life saver!

This type of surgery is hard on the patient and the family, but your sister will be like a new person after it's done.

Good thoughts are with U and her!
