I recently got a blood test done and it said I test positive for hsv 2.
I have never had any symptoms, could it be a false positive? Now what?

People OFTEN never show or notice symptoms of herpes, even if they have been infected. These are called subclinical and asymptomatic cases. People who are asymptomatic or subclinical can still be contagious, though.

When you got the test results, did you see the numbers or ersults for IgM and IgG? IgM positives mean current infection, whereas positive IgG results mean previous exposure.

ADDENDUM Re: IgM
An IgG alone isn't very informative. IgG tests are known to cross-react with other past infections. Herpes viruses are especially prone to this kind of cross-reactivity because it is a big family and even having the chicken pox as a child could generate a reactive IgG value. You would need to have an IgM value to determine whether or not you really have HSV-2.

If the results rally mean that much to you, ask your doctor to have an IgM run for the HSV screening.
