That's like asking to recommend a good Chinese restaurant in Hong Kong. Birmingham is full of really great Curry restaurants.

any on ladypool road/stratford road in the balti quarter of sparkbrook are excellent and CHEAP. most dont have a licence so you bring your own beer.

to go upmarket try lasan in the jewellery quarter - more contemporary indian food

and for the first restaurant in bhm to get into the good food guide go to hurst street and the maharaja

My recoomendation would be to go to blue mango by the canal, but you could head for the balti triangle where there are loads of excellent ones to try.

Get a cab to Sparkbrook/Sparkhill - loads and loads of them there - all very good.

my personal preference is indian gardens whichis on the tyburn road erdington
also try manzills in digbeth
