You can do a Hollywood theme complete with a red carpet. U can video tape guest entering your party like the stars do. They can stop and give u birthday wishes. You can use fake Oscars with balloons tied to them as center pieces. You can do pretty in pink, mostly pink lilac and white if you're a "girly girl". U didn't say if u wanted it formal or not. I think these are more informal ideas. You can do an 80's party. That's what my friends are doing, I'm gonna dress like Madonna. You can have a pool party, costume party, Mardi gras, luau/Hawaii theme, beach theme. What I'm gonna do 4 my party is have a black and white ball. Everyone has to wear black and/or white and I'm gonna show up in red. I plan to change my color every hour. First I'm gonna have a red dress, then hot pink etc....... we just did a mexican fiesta for my daughters 16..she loved it..the music and we put up those lantern lights all over the yard and had everything decorated in the colors..she wanted a pinyata..we made favors by wrapping crepe paper into a ball while winding into them little treats and gifts....we had music and asked the people who came to try to dress for a fiesta...we had salsa and make your own tacos..we had a fire later on that night....i made her cake to look like moraccias

Luau, Western, Asian, Mascaraed, Princess
Or take your favourite movie and build a theme around it!

You could probably have musical chairs, limbo, dance-off, (i dunno I'm just brainstorming) maybe for themes you could go earth tone colors since it'll be in the fall. As for food just pick something simple, especially if u don't want to spend too much money.
