There are a range of homosexual behaviors. Many men will go after other men if they are confined without women. This is exemplified by prison.

There are men who take up homosexuality, because they simply cannot get a girl or to upset their families - I have seen the latter with families that are very religious.

There are also men who do not seem to have any meaningful choice. There has been a substantial amount of theorizing that this is because of the absence of normal levels of testosterone in the womb at certain times. All babies start out "female" and are turned male, in the very narrow sense that if nothing intervenes, you will get a girl - I am not discounting the X and Y chromosones and their inevitable development effects.

There are documented two sorts of approaches to changing men from homosexuality in the literature, but these have not been explored since the 1970s when homosexuality was removed from the list of psychiatric disorders recognized as such by the professional psychiatric association in the USA.

One way is by aversion therapy. This generally involved pornography and electo-convulsive therapy. This had a high documented success rate in South Africa in airforce studies and in the old Soviet Union in military studies. This became an issue because of the draft in both countries.

The other way is by faith based interventions. While these are documented as successful, there is no way of knowing whether they are as effective as the electro-convulsive therapy, because that therapy was compulsory (in substance) and was imposed as an alternative to a court martial on unwilling recruits. The faith based interventions are necessarily voluntary.

So far as lesbianism is concerned, there is no theory of problems in the womb, although there are "boys" who will not respond to testosterone and they look like girls and some are strikingly attractive as girls. The old Soviet Union classified lesbianism as a symptom of psychiatric illness, in our terms, the closest is paranoid schizophrenia.

Lesbianism was not common in the old Soviet Union because it gave an excuse to the authorities to confine and torture you with injected sulfur "drugs" that caused retching and extreme muscle pains. So it was certainly possible to suppress it.

In view of the decision of the professional association and now the U.S. Supreme Court in Lawrence v. Texas, there is no legal basis for confining someone for compulsory shock therapy on account of homosexuality and there would not only be ethical considerations, but there would be issues of kidnapping and unlawful imprisonment.

I have sought to answer your question honestly, but you need to realize that it is a matter of only historical interest, and some of these matters involve the clinical abuse of psychiatry.

Whats normal? Psychologists have long debated what is the definition of normal and have come up with 6 main approaches to defining normality - sociocultural, historical, situational, medical, functional and statistical. I don't see sexuality listed there, so I don't think that you can then say that heterosexuality is normal - its just a variation on the sexuality an individual can be.

Any way - whose business it is of who another individual cares to be intimate with - if they aren't hurting anyone than it shouldn't be an issue. Personally, I want to know why don't they have the same rights as heterosexuals - that should be a more important question.

specific. There are people who effectively cut back or administration their indications on a similar time as no longer on medicine in any respect. that is surely the "extreme street" and additionally you've an iron will to do it suitable, however that is attainable. I handle devoid of medicine, and that i know various different people who do besides. there have been people who've become symptom loose devoid of counsel from medicine, yet they're very very few and lots between. EDIT: somebody below pronounced St John's Wort for bipolar and that's an fairly undesirable theory. St John's Wort may finally end up in mania in bipolar human beings, merely like each and every antidepressant. Omega-3 is a lots extra suitable wager. It stabilizes the two ends of the temper spectrum, while St John's Wort in undemanding terms works on melancholy.

This feels kinda like the "mutation" cure issue in the X-men 3 film (and to me, the plot does have that kind of undertone - presented in a different light). Imagine how homosexuals will feel when they read your question. I'd imagine that it would be similar with how Storm reacted when they found out that a "cure" was being developed for "mutation".

Hi there,

There is nothing to "cure". Homosexuality is as normal as someone who is straight. The only difference is that heterosexuality is more common; homosexuality is less common. But just because something is more common, that does not, by default, make it better.

Remember "commonness" refers to prevalence. So something that is more common is more prevalent in society. It has been estimated that approximately 10% of society is homosexual; 90% is heterosexual. But that does not mean the the 90% are "better than" or more "normal" than the 10%. All it means is that there are more straight people that gay; both are natural and normal.

Cheers.

Do you mean homosexuality?

And if so, you can not "cure" it, homosexuality is not a disease or an illness.

And who has the right to define what is normal??

Grow up and learn about the fact that everyone is different in our world.
