I'm 18 and I have been smoking since I was about 13.
I quit last year but started up very light in march..
I don't buy ciggs but I chainsmoke late at night when I party with my friends.
For awhile there I started waking up in the morning all dried up with excess amounts of flem and dried up ****.
One day I had a bit of blood in it, but only once.
Now, I have had a cough for 4 or 5 days but its not bad in the morning..
Its once I get to the evening hours I can't stop. Its like a constant tickle that turns into a cough
Im really worried about cancer and ****, could it just be allergies.
Im young, and pretty healthy.

Please, please go to see your doctor. You seem awful young and I personally would seek help.
You need to quit completely and seek a new set of NON-SMOKING FRIENDS.
I know it is hard to quit - but you have to figure - how much do I value my life vs. how much I value smoking.
Don't want to be preachy - but I don't have any in-laws. Thye died due to smoking related illnesses. My husband doesn't have either of his parents because they choose way too late to quit smoking. Please think about how happy your parents will be if you quit smoking.
I have a son who is 19 and he smokes and I HATE IT!!!!!!
By the way - I was once a 3 pack a day smoker and haven't smoked in 20 years.
I hope everything turns out for the best!!!!

It definately is the smoking. It doesn't necessarily mean you have cancer, but we all know that's where it usually ends up.
One fellow smoker to another, quit now! This is your body's way of telling you it cannot manage what you are doing to it.
Here's the really scary part, that I'm not sure I should tell you. You can continue to smoke and your body will find ways to compensate and the symptoms you described will recede and only appear sporadically or only in the morning, but it is not getting better, it is getting worse. Just wait till you get a bad chest cold and it slips into pneumonia, because that's what happens to smokers, and you end up sick, dying on your feet literally, and having to go to work anyway because you've been sick for three months and the doctor has at this point put you on your 3rd different antibiotic and given you 2 different inhalers so that occassionally you can breath instead of cough. I've been there, trust me it gets worse. I recently decided to quit myself, I hope you will join me. It won't get easier to quit, and social smoking doesn't work for most people. So I'm going cold turkey, how about you?

No, its not just allergies. Its the smoking. Smoking is a constant irritant to your lungs, and that is what is causing you to cough etc. You need to quit, and go to the doctor to make sure you dont have an infection. I work in ICU as a nurse. If you could see what I see EVERY DAY- people gasping for air and stuggling to live- because of cigarette damaged lungs, you would quit on the spot. Lung disease is a horrible way to meet your maker. Quit, while you are still young and healthy.

Well, It doesn't really matter how healthy you are otherwise, because just by smoking for the amount of time you did, and especially since your lungs may not have completely "grown", you have damaged you lungs. I highly doubt that it is just allergies, but I would not rule out cancer. You should go to your doctor and have them check for pulmonary embolises, and tumors. Of course, it all may just be side effects from smoking in general. Hope you feel better ^_^

It most likely the smoking. Smoking is a terrible habit that will rob you of many healthy years of life. I just lost an aunt & a brother last year from lung disease caused by smoking. She went through a year of hell, just waiting for a lung transplant. She passed away 1 year after her transplant. My brother also went through a couple of years of hell, on oxygen, he didn't live long enough to get a transplant. I watched him struggle for every breath he could get as he lay on his death bed. He wanted to die, and I can't blame him for not wanting to live that way. I quit just before heart surgery, that left me with congestive heart failure, and my lungs fill up with fluid. Had I continued to smoke, I wouldn't be here today. I have days when I just can't get enough air to breath. STOP, STOP, STOP, WHILE YOU CAN STILL BREATH.

It is definitely the smoking. You need to stop completely and also stop being around people that are smoking.
